Same here. I used to go to the scanlator's website and use their online reader there. If there's none, I would download. Now that the scanlation websites are taken off Baka-Updates, I just head off to some aggregate site because it's extra work having to search for the scanlator's website unless I can remember them off the top of my head.

I use aggregate sites-now it's mainly batoto and scanlators' readers but I also use mangatraders ocassionally and mangahere. I don't care much for the profiting anymore since I use an adblocker and ghostery. The way I see it, scanlating is illegal in of itself anyways so if anyone should get profits, it's solely the mangaka and publishers. If one scanlates, one should do it out of their own pockets IMO but then again, I can't help what people donate.

Not sure if MangaTraders count. That and Dynasty Reader are the only ones I use.

It counts. It's a place where scanlations are collected and can be viewed online as well as downloaded

I use batoto mostly because it keeps track of what my last chapter read was. It's really convenient since I have a big reading list, I fall behind on a lot of series, so the automatic bookmark is exactly what I need.

I usually use Batoto, but if the scan group has its own reader, I'll go with that. Very rarely do I actually download chapters -- it's tedious and just clutters up my computer. When I have to use other aggregate sites, I have adblock employed, so at least they're not getting ad revenue from me. embarrassed

I usually read on the scanlator's reader, or on Dynasty which has most of the series I pay attention to. Batoto is my last resort.

Interesting that there hasn't been much said about manga reading apps on tablets. I use one of those apps on my iPad, which offers content from 5 big aggregator sites including Batoto, and naturally bypasses the ads. It automatically bookmarks the last read page (not just chapter) and allows for offline downloads. It sizes the pages to fullscreen and downloads in the background so I just flick to get to the next page instantaneously, which means the reading experience is like that of a downloaded manga (no loading times). I've been spoiled by that app and I honestly don't think I can go back to reading on websites unless the title isn't available otherwise.

When I first learnt about what aggregator sites do and how they rip off scanlators' work, I tried going to their websites/Livejournal etc. to download. But I had to register, and then read a ton of instructions from different posts, then write some stuff, then wait to be allowed to join the community (and sometimes I don't even get a reply). I do respect the scanlators - I do fansubs myself for video projects. But we let people download freely and easily from our website. Why give people any excuse at all?

One last thing. I have a personal philosophy regarding the volunteer work I do (subbing). I do it for myself; I do it to give myself pleasure, also knowing that my work will give others pleasure. And for me, it ends there.
If other people want to take my work and do evil things with it(!), that's on their own heads/conscience/karma. And I do believe in karma, except that I express it as "things have a curious way of coming back to bite you in the ass".

I know that I've gone OT on this thread, but I'm hoping that my words will reach some scanlators who feel angry and betrayed. I've learnt from years of volunteering (not just subbing, but also helping people in real life) that the only way to be at peace is by making sure that you yourself get something out of what you do - that there is INTRINSIC satisfaction in it for you. Never expect or hope for gratitude, or loyalty (promises), or anything at all that's dependent on OTHER people.

Do it if it makes you happy, and stop when it doesn't. Life is short; why let bad people take your peace away from you? Let the people behind MangaFox choke on their ill-gotten profits; it is between them and their god, and it has nothing to do with you. The quickest way to burnout is to waste energy getting angry at people who don't deserve an iota of your attention. Know that thousands of people in the world are quietly enjoying your hard work and sending good karma your way, as am I smile

Well, up until about 6 months ago I almost never used online readers, but as progressively more sites seemed to decide that they were going to only have an online reader version, or not post DL links for a few days I started to just use them, and then a lot of sites just started telling me to go to Batoto. And from there I suppose I just got lazier about it.

Actually this site no longer having links to sites also made me less inclined to go to scanlator websites, as I had to manually search for them rather than just click over to them.

You should have included an option about "Availability in my country in English".
