I've always wanted to try but I'm not sure if I have what it takes. I know my way around Ps and GIMP and I'm fluent in English but I still procastinate. I only go online about twice a week and I'm pretty busy. Those are hindrances too. In short, I don't see myself joining one in the near future but I'd like to someday.

I run my own group. I also find it hard to get translators to join up. It's helpful that my husband is my main translator and I'm pretty much the only cleaner/redrawer. We both were a part of Shoujo Magic in the day. @_@ I'd love if some part time translators would join my group. *cough*

Yes... but we haven't updated in awhile. ;_; There are only two of us (my best friend and I), but we've managed to get out some releases! biggrin I was in charge of cleaning and typesetting, and she did translations and proofing. I don't use Photoshop since I don't have it (I use a cheaper, older program), and I kind of suck at cleaning/redrawing, but since we worked on full-color webcomics, it wasn't a huuuuge issue. I kind of just taught myself what I needed to know, so my methods are probably all wrong, lol, but our releases don't look too shabby, and they're definitely readable, so there's that. xP

So yeah, currently inactive right now, but I'd really like to get back into it once I graduate this spring. eyes

I lack the talent and patience. Also that other one... Er..
The ability to adhere to deadlines. (:

I answered yes for the current poll. Although assignments are really slow especially for proofreader/translator/typesetter part; while cleaner can just do on their own as long as they have the raws.

I'm in more than one group, I clean sometimes and typeset some other times...
I do it because, because I like it, because if no one helped the groups no one would be able to read their releases and because I hate when I'm not able to read the ending of a manga because the scanlation group has closed because it had no staff.
And I think that it's incredible that there's only a 6.7% said yes, I think that people should think about getting into a group if they want groups to keep having releases.
I'm not telling you to start learning japanese but learning how to use Photoshop isn't so difficult, at first I didn't know how it worked either, if you have little time there are a lot of groups that need typesetters and being a typesetter doesn't take as much as the time as being a cleaner, there are the "actions" on Photoshop that can help you save a lot of time, and not all the groups have timelines.

I'm thinking about joining a group once I graduate...I feel like I could do it since I have a scanner, know Photoshop pretty well and know some Japanese and Chinese. I never joined before 'cause I worried a lot about fizzling out on people and not finishing the project, but hopefully my time management is better now...
