This week's poll is from our member psycho-shocker. I was struggling on how to word this one. Basically, take your favorite series. Now imagine there's an anime version, a manga version, a light novel version, and a live action movie version. They're all pretty good (so the anime doesn't have too many fillers, etc). Which medium do you think you'd enjoy the most for this series? Or maybe you like them all equally?

You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related)
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: Demographic you read the most?
Choices:
Shounen - votes: 3862 (27.4%)
Shoujo - votes: 2665 (18.9%)
Seinen - votes: 2395 (17%)
Josei - votes: 468 (3.3%)
Shoujo Ai - votes: 144 (1%)
Shounen Ai - votes: 231 (1.6%)
Hentai - votes: 563 (4%)
Lolicon - votes: 283 (2%)
Shotacon - votes: 78 (0.6%)
Yaoi - votes: 3012 (21.4%)
Yuri - votes: 385 (2.7%)
There were 14086 total votes.
The poll ended: April 25th 2014

Judging from the comments, this poll was quite divisive... I'm a bit surprised that josei is so much lower though (compared to the others of the first four choices).

Well, it varies, since I stick to the original instead of the adaptions. I might check the rest if they are good though.

I tend to prefer manga and light novel (reading) rather than live action & anime (watching). Watching a series takes too much time compared to reading. But if the series has gundam/mecha in it, I prefer anime since it's kinda hard to distinguish one mecha from another in blank and white panel. Another exception would be anime with fighting scene/ atmosphere that's hard to express in writing or drawing. For example Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica or Guilty Crown.

I mostly prefer the original format or whatever format that has the most complete story... But in some cases, like a really action-heavy story, I guess it's marginally better if the pictures/characters are moving biggrin.

In reality, I'd choose whichever came first since that's typically the best, but I guess theoretically, if they were all equal, I'd choose the manga.

I enjoy the original story and since this is assuming my favorite series (usually a manga), then yeah...manga. If original story is the anime, then it's anime and so on

Lol there needs to be an option "whatever the original format is"

But if it's a story that involves international presence eg. english is used or the setting is in the west, etc, then it's definitely manga (hands down) because it's weird watching an anime where these characters are speaking japanese when they're supposed to be in (say) England.

How the hell would I know? It'd obviously depend on which one is the best.

Usually the visual novel, but they're often the original medium, so it's hard to say. Still went with the ame option.
Light novel is pretty close though.

But if the series had the same "quality" on all mediums, I'd probably go with the anime.

Long Answer: This is hard to choose, because its really on a case-by-case basis of which medium does a better job of telling the story. I have times when I like the novel more, because it has so much room to expand the story and give really good character development. Sometimes I like the manga more, because it's able to have plenty of time for development and still give me good visuals to base my imagination on. Other times I like the anime more for bringing the story alive, especially when it comes to fight sequences and music.

Short Answer:

It's easier for me to choose my least favorite, the live action movie. If a series starts as a manga or novel, there is usually a lot of story to tell. A two-hour movie has the least amount of time to get the story right. Although you only have to spend two hours on a movie, it's usually the most convenient to watch.

I enjoy the original and its the always the fist thing I try. So, I said manga due to a lot of series start out as manga.

It took me a while to understand the question, since I thought "mediums" meant "people able to contact spirits", while the one that should be used there would be "media". As I'm not a native speaker of English, I don't know if that use is correct (since many uses taught as "incorrect" to non-natives seem to be "correct" by native standards).

My answer: the original medium. I sometimes follow several of them to enjoy the differences and sometimes reach the original one through an adaption (or the original remains unreachable to me), but since more often than not the needed changes to adapt something to another medium tend to sacrifice some of the "flavor", I prefer the original.
