Everyone has one. A manga that's so amazing, you can't believe no one has ever heard of it. The manga series that deserves to be as popular as Naruto and Fullmetal Alchemist but for some unexplainable reason never got any love.
What's yours?

And I misspelled the title of the topic. This is why you shouldn't type anything important on your phone, kids.

Probably some stuff from this list: http://www.mangaupdates.com/mylist.html?id=297771&list=u ser7

I mean, if people knew about those, they would have been translated already...

Hmm, fair point, Jahu. I guess it's a fine line. I was interested because most of the manga I read is fairly popular (hence how I found it) but I've stumbled on a couple of amazing ones no one seems to know about. I wondered what other people's 'hidden gems' are.

On another site I had this list for "hidden gems":

Yuureitou
Sugar Dark - Umerareta Yami to Shoujo
Uwagaki
Zero In
Ja Ja Uma Grooming UP!
Ruka to Ita Natsu
Murasakiiro no Qualia
Enchanter
Little Jumper
Fukashigi Philia
Ashita Dorobou
Yome ga Kore na Monde.

The list is somewhat outdated, as most of those series are known now (but were less known when I was making the list). Ruka to Ita Natsu appears to be not very well known series even though it's good.

Uchuu Kyoudai
It's not a very unpopular manga, but still not as popular as it should be, despite having 230 chapters (scanlated) already and pretty high popularity in japan (extrememly good sales for a seinen manga, anime, anime movie, live action movie, and so on)

You can't call yourself a serious manga fan, if you haven't at least tried to read Uchuu Kyoudai. It just screams "QUALITY"!
But keep in mind, that you might not love it right away. I personally just started to love it around chapter 70, but after that it has become one of my absolute favorites. And now rereading the first 70 chapters, I'm like: "How could I NOT love this manga from the beginning?!" xD

Needs definitely more attention.

Gamble Fish
In short: it's the trash-version of Liar Game and Death Note.
Mind games, where you sometimes have to laugh, because it's so unlogical and embarrassing. But it has a good flow and if you aren't too picky and don't expect well-crafted mastermind games, you get good entertainment.

Dreamland
A french (hence the unpopularity maybe) manga in the style of One Piece, Dragonball, Toriko and so on.
Unique settings, many characters in different skill classes, good fights.
Don't let yourself get thrown off because of the "art" in the first chapters. Seriously, it's worse than some of Togashi's doodles. smile
But it gets a lot lot better - not really very beautiful, but something you can look at without wanting to scratch your eyes out.

Hito Hitori Futari was this a while ago, but now most likely most people have at least heard about it. The scanlation was finished recently.

The Legend of Sun Knight (Novel)
THIS. It's seriously amazing, although it's pretty much only readable as a lightnovel at the moment since not much of the manga has been translated. It's my favourite though, and I'm surprised at how it's not more popular. It has:

- Really interesting characterisation: All the characters are not what they'd initially seem on the outside. Their appearances don't always match their thinking, which is really refreshing. The main character Sun has a really despicable, selfish, narcissistic, dark sort of personality, but plays the part of the benevolent, kind "Sun Knight" on the outside.

- Really good character interaction and development: It's not a story about one character stealing the spotlight. I like how all the other characters are fleshed out as well, even supporting characters. I don't think there has been any character (main, supporting, antagonist) who I've disliked, since even the antagonists which you absolutely hate initially are revealed to have really well-developed personalities and whatnot.

- Well-structured plot with no fluff. Also, things that happen early on do play parts later on, so not much events are insignificant. Also, loads of plot twists. >biggrin

The closest thing I can compare it to is possibly Tower of God, although it's quite different from anything I've read, and doesn't particularly fit into any genre. I think males are put off by reading it due to the rather large male cast which is introduced at the beginning, but after getting them through that (tested with friends), they loved it afterwards. I really recommend it to anyone anyhow. smile

most of the Korean webtoons I really like are relatively unknown, maybe not so much on this site but in the manga/manwha-reading world in general. But with Naver's steps toward English translation this may change. ^^ I've read some of Daum's webtoons too; they don't quite have the quality of Naver's webtoons though.
