Originally, yaoi/shounen ai just bugged me. I didn't like to read them. Then I read Kurayami ni Strobe and that opinion did a 180. Now I love it all, even the hard yaoi stuff. And now I need recommendations, since I'm a total newbie and even though I've tried using the genre search on here, I'm still not sure what to read. Highschool romances only, please! I'd rather read about couples that are my age, you know? Also, mangas that are about love more than lust I'd love to hear about. There aren't nearly enough of those. I swear, when I say good art I mean it. No pointy chins or weird hair or freakishly wide shoulders! It bugs me! My modern-shoujo-art and I go together nicely, thank you very much.

I've already read/am reading:
Seven Days (freaking loved it)
All of the manga by Junko (smexy)
Kurayami ni Strobe (my first & favorite!!)
Brother Auto Spot (ongoing)
Bloody Mary (meh)
1001 Knights (lol it's so frickin confusing)
Ano ko to Juliet (sooo cute!)
Bokura ni Matsuwau Et Cetera (Cutee!)
Gimmick (which was smexy, too)
Tobari (oh gosssh I almost cried. So cute)

And a lot more that I forgot. Please give me lots of recommendations! Oneshots are fine, series are even better. Anything you liked or a friend liked or whatever. I have such a hard time finding good ones TT_TT

First Welcome to the Forums \^_^/ Second Yay Yaoi, welcome to the dark side. (lol j/k)

Now for my suggestions. They range from cute, and sweet, to a bit more dark and twisted. I hope you enjoy all (or at least most) of them. Also don't forget to keep your lists well updated. Trust me this helps a lot if you want to reread something.

Higouhou Junai edit ... I just relooked at this post and there's high school students in this manga >////< (I must have been tired.) but I still recommend it.
Escape (KYUUGOU)
Junketsu Drop
Kimi ni Sasayaku Mirai somewhat ... at least one is in high school.
Dakishimetakunai 1st ch. maybe the rest does too, but I'm don't remember
Gravitation My first BL manga. ♥
Kimi no Ondo
Cut
Koi no Mannaka
Love Mode ... somewhat has someone in high school >.> but I this is a good read.
≠ - Not Equal same as above
Kakko Warukute Kakkoii Kimi
Kasa no Shita, Futari
Kimi Note
Retsujou one or two of the stories in here
Laundry oneshot
Yubisaki de Ai o Katare
Yume no Kodomo the art is a bit on the oldish side, and only has one person in high school, but good story.
Boku wa Kimi no Tori ni Naritai
Seinen wa Ai o Kou

Sorenari ni Shinken nandesu. and Soko ni Suwaru na These do not have any high schoolers in it, BUT I HIGHLY suggest giving them a shot. Expand your tastes a bit. *nudge nudge*

edit:
Since You're Selfish it's so cute >.<

Welcome to the forums!

I don't think I've read any of the examples except Seven Days, which I don't love as much as others seem to. But I'll try to give you some of my picks, and hope there will be something you'll like.

Airyouran Gakuen
Dog Style - more lust than love
Empty Heart - student/teacher
Gochisou-sama - the side story in chapters 4-5 is about the school prince who falls for an otaku
Hydra - probably my favorite high school romance, by MIYAMOTO Kano, one of my favorite mangaka
Kawaii Akuma
Koi Cha no Osahou
Mousou Elektel
Okujou Fuukei
Otona Keikenchi
Plus 20 cm no Kyori
Pretty Scoop!
Saa Koi ni Ochitamae
Unbalance na Netsu
17 Guyz
Koi o Suru DNA + - side stories in Viewfinder

Woohoo, let me join the others in welcoming you to the dark side, the only side. Yaoi claims another one, and believe me if you can understand the appeal, you'll find yourself loving all of it eventually. I started out only wanting to read the hard yaoi, but I've since grown to appreciate all forms of BL (the well-written ones anyway). School life BL is one of my favorite genres, so I have a slew of recommendations. I'll probably just go with the my favorites.

By the way, Kurayami ni Strobe is my favorite shounen-ai! It's the perfect boy's love story.

Have you read Nojiko Hayakawa's (manga-ka of KnS) other works? You will probably like:

Endou-kun no Kansatsu Nikki (it also has a sequel that's linked on that page too).

Shounen-ai - slice of life - and little to no sex:

Slow Starter by Kei Ichikawa - A really sweet, slow romance about two high school guys falling in love. It's definitely in the same vein as KnS or Endou-kun, but with totally different styles.

Blue Sky Complex by the same manga-ka as Slow Starter. I give this one a slight edge over Slow Starter because there's a megane in this one and I slightly prefer the way their love story unfolds.

Kanemochi-kun to Binbou-kun by Hideyshico. I only wish the ending had been more satisfying, but I find that her endings are probably her weakest point when it comes to her writing. She's a popular manga-ka, so you might end up liking Udagawachou de Mattete yo (it does involve cross-dressing, which originally turned me off, but I liked the opposites attract trope) or Negative-kun to Positive-kun.

Breakfast Club by Akemi Takaido - It's a pretty slow read. She doesn't get as much attention as others because her stuff is kind of low key, but I like to consider her a staple when it comes to slice of life boy's love. I also really like Renai no Kami-sama ni Ie by her, but the scanlation is unfinished (you can find raws to it if you look, though).

I'd feel remiss if I didn't recommend something by Isaku Natsumi because her works are always so fun, cute, and lighthearted. Her art is more shounen-like, but I think that's a positive. I personally prefer Dash!. I'd check out her other work if you ever decide to branch out too. She's got some other better works out there.

Because she's one of my favorite BL manga-kas and I pimp her work every chance I get, Yugi Yamada's Seinen 14-sai (the first story/pairing) and Shinu hodo Suki (the first story/pairing). I think her work and her art take some getting used to, but once you start reading her stuff, you end up loving it or at least that's the way it worked for me.

Semi-smutty/Smutty High School Love :

Warui/Ja Nai Kedo/Muhiji na by Mei Sakuraga - one of the more popular yaoi manga out there. It's actually four interconnected stories, but they each have their own storyline. I hate how MU removed all the separate pages for each series and combined it because now it's ridiculously confusing. I personally prefer the _Ja Nai Kedo story because I love my glasses-kun and the playboy seme type. The third one Muhiji na_ centers around university students, but it's a very good read too. The fourth one is new, but it's high school too. I'd describe her art style to be more shoujo.

Can't believe she hasn't been mentioned because she's become really popular lately and her art is very shoujo-ish (she writes/draws shoujo as well) - Gosan no Heart and Kono Ore ga Omae Nanka Suki na Wakenai by Ogawa Chise. She does a lot of high school romance, so you might want to check out her work, but those two are my favorite. The latter, Kono Ore is more cute and the first is more smutty/erotic.

U Don't Know Me by Na Yeri. One of my personal favorites (I even own a copy). The art is gorgeous, it's erotic, and it takes a relatively more serious approach to a gay relationship (as opposed to most yaoi).

Kohitsuji Project by Sei Takenaka - More of the supernatural type and they go to a vampire school kind of manga. I'd recommend Wild Honey by her too, but you'd have to buy it to read it. I own a copy and I think it was worth the price.

ETA: Sorry, this is like the never-ending list of recommendations but I have a couple more that might fit the bill of what you're looking for:

Furueru Yoru no Himitsugoto - First and third stories. The artwork is really cute and shoujo-like too, so you might end up enjoying it.

La Satanica - Not sure if you'd like her art but it's a high school based romance too.

Iberiko Buta by Shoowa - Another one of my favorite manga-kas. She has a specific type of seme that I adore, so I always check out her work. I'm not sure if it's your cup of tea because it's kind of wacky more than it is romantic but I'd figure I'd throw it out there anyway. She's a popular enough BL manga-ka that you're bound to run across her work sooner or later.

Tarinai Jikan/Not Enough Time by Hidaka Shoko. The first story, and it also has another chapter contained as an extra in Signal. I'm kind of cheating here, but there's also Shiranai Kao (the first story) which starts out as a high school romance and later does a time skip into the future. I wouldn't call her work the yaoi equivalent of shoujo, more like the josei equivalent.

Oh, and this one is really cute, Saiyaku wa Boku o Suki Sugiru

Haha, hopefully that's the last of it.

I recently read a really good high school shounen-ai manga that I didn't see on here. The name of it is Senpai - I normally go for the harder stuff, but I really liked this one.

Since you liked Kurayami ni Strobe I am guessing you are okay with sketchy art style. Since you are newer to yaoi I would like to recommend some mangaka whose works are absolutely awesome!!!!

Miyamoto Kano - in my opinion she is a yaoi GODDESS!!! I absolutely LOVE all of her manga - Lovers, Souls is my fav (I have read this over and over and I ALWAYS cry). If you want to read her stuff make sure you read it in order as most of her works are a series of interlinked stories.

SHOOWA - she has a lot of high school related manga and she has a sketchy art style. My favorite from her is currently Papa's Assasin. - Ryuunosuke wa Tonde Yuku. - The uke is in high school.

Kawai Touko - Just Around the Corner and Bondz both have to do with high school. Café Latte Rhapsody is also really good.

Mishima Kazuhiko - her art style is really 'cutsey' but a LOT of her stuff has highschool kids in it.

HAYAKAWA Nojiko - this is the mangaka that did Kurayami ni Strobe - all of her works are really good! I would go through hers and see what ones you like based on the summaries. My favorites from her are Yozora no Sumikko de, and Endou-kun no Kansatsu Nikki

Abe Akane - Just read all of her's! Soooo good

Minase Masara - Again.... all of her stuff is good (imo) and a few have high schoolers in it.

I will stop here or I would ramble on forever. Welcome to the awesome world of yaoi!!!!!

I never thought I'd end up on the Dark Side, but I must say thanks for the welcome into insanity bigrazz

Just want to add that since you like shoujo-art, you should try the works of Kamon Saeko. The majority of her manga takes place in high school.
