This week's poll was suggested by Calamansi. For the background art in the series you read, how much detail do you like in them? I remember that the backgrounds in Mahou Sensei Negima! were quite detailed. Then there's shoujo where a lot of panels will just have sparkles and stuff to indicate the mood of the character.

You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related)
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: If you own some physical copies of manga, what do after you've read them?
Choices:
Keep reading religiously - votes: 780 (7.2%)
Leave it on the shelf and probably read it later - votes: 6408 (58.9%)
Leave it on the shelf and never touch again - votes: 1332 (12.3%)
Throw it away - votes: 23 (0.2%)
Lend it out - votes: 144 (1.3%)
Give it away to someone - votes: 47 (0.4%)
Donate it to a library, manga cafe, etc - votes: 77 (0.7%)
Sell it - votes: 73 (0.7%)
I don't own any physical manga - votes: 1989 (18.3%)
There were 10873 total votes.
The poll ended: July 19th 2014

Now how many people say they'll read it later and actually never do? I'm the kind of person that rarely goes back to read something again. Same with rarely re-watching movies or TV shows.

I don't really care since i don't pay much attention to background, but sometimes it bother me when the background is completely blank or the background is really bad.

As long as they're not like the backgrounds in Bleach.

By backgrounds in Bleach, I mean white space.

...same with the attacks, really.

there's no option...background that tell the story...really that's all I need
I don't care how much detail or how spacey, I just want it to have content, used as background is suppose to be used.
set the setting, the mood, and tell us more story.

Details is a must thing...
it can tell us a lot of things...
For Example You Can Take One Piece, Naruto Or. Fairy Tail ...these one got some heavy load of details...and that's one of the reason they are best...haha
so, any “ Manga ” at least needs an average amount of details...
they makes the reading fun and exciting and you also get a lot of material from them to have a lot gossip on Facebook ^^

I would like it just to have some tone added when its a small panel, but a VERY DETAILED background when there's an open space with an almost full body of the char. I like them very much.

If there's too many details in the background I lose focus of the characters, if there's too little detail or no background I imagine the characters floating around in a blank space. So I like an average amount. Enough to show off the setting or to influence the mood, but still leaving the characters to be the main focus.

I'm an advocator of scenery porn, but detail isn't everything; there's beauty in simplicity as well.

Me too, I love manga that are visual works of art in their own right.

I prefer detailed backgrounds. Something like Oyasumi Punpun or Akira is just amazing. But less detail isn't an art deal breaker for me - I love the art in something like If You Want To Destroy The World too.

Since I tend to read romances I just focus on the character's facial expressions, and the text. Normally my answer would be "I don't really pay attention to the backgrounds" but that's only the case if it's a good to decent story. If not ... I don't care ....

Completely agree. I love series with great detail like Emma, Berserk etc. However, I also others with a great story, but simple art with lots of white space like Ashita no Ousama.
