Murim is a term used for The Martial Arts World while Murim-in refers to the people who are a part of said world.
I would think it consists of clan & unnormal amount of strength.
Examples:
The Breaker & sequel The Breaker: New Waves
Tale of Eun Aran
Ruler of the Land though it never says anything about murim, I would think this fits in a way. It has clans and people with different skills & power. Only thing is, theres only a martial arts world. Theyre not hidden or anything like the two above.

i think the word "Murim" is an invented word by the mangka,/manhwa (what i think)

Never heard the word before i read the breaker..

Couldn't find it in the dictionary

I found this text, I did not write neither did i comment on it. Just a copy and past
Same with this They got the word from Breaker.

Text starts here:

What the heck is Murim?

Murim is basically a world that co-exists with real world. Many "Murim" novel authors use certain era of Chinese history as their base time line (For example, Xiao Xian's era). And within Murim, like World of Warcraft, or Aion the world is divided into two factions. I am sure there is an official Chinese word for these two factions but since I don't know Chinese I will just write it in Korean. One faction is named 정파(Faction Jung), this faction is known to be the "Good guys" in the world of Murim. They are well-known to follow the rules of Muhyup and fight for justice. The other faction is named 사파(Faction Sah). These guys are known to be the "Bad guys" in the world of Murim. Unlike Faction Jung, they only follow their own rules and they will do whatever it takes to get what they desire. Moreover, there are Clans within these factions. As you read it in previous chapters, those guys who are gathered in the building are from the clans within that one faction.
(I can go much deeper with factions but I don't want to make you guys read all that lol). Even though I mentioned Faction Jung is the good guys and Faction Sah is the bad guys but it really isn't like that. Because there can be villains from Faction Jung as well and heroes from Faction Sah and vice versa.

FAQ

Q: Wait... But Breaker takes place in Korea and its modern time...
A: Exactly. And that is why this Breaker is so interesting. The author made Murim, which normally takes place in ancient China times, to exist in modern time in Korea. It seems like he also transferred the idea of Faction vs. Faction and Hero vs. Factions into this Manhwa. I am not sure if he will make some characters from Murim in China but I am sure it would be hella interesting .

Q: I don't really see faction system in this Manhwa...
A: Yeah since this Manhwa is aimed towards Hero vs. Faction right now, you are not seeing much. But the people you see in the building are from various clans and they were able to unite because they are in same faction.

Q: Whats the relationship between Faction Jung and Faction Sah?
A: They hate each other (how original lol). You can see it as this way. Republicans vs. Democrats, Alliance vs. Horde, and etc. They have different way of doing things and that causes conflicts and so on.

Q: Why is Goomoonryong so damn BUFF?
A: In the world of Murim, there are martial artists who have reached certain level of Martial Arts and when they do, they gain a title. And Goomoonryong is one of them, but in this manhwa, he is number 1 in the world of Korean Murim. (I can go further with this topic but well you just gotta know this to understand lol)

Q: People in the building called themselves alliance… What faction is that really?
A: I am pretty sure they are Faction Jung; it’s just that translators translated the faction's name to Alliance.»

Just of the top of my head:

Korean:
ChunRangYulJun (And its sequel below)
Now
King of Hell
Dark Mage
Id (Not so much in the main story, but Id is from such a world, as demonstrated in a prelude side story in the later volumes)
Murim Investigation Team (It's literally in the name, and like the breaker it's set in a contemporary world)
Yongbi
Ping
The Sword of Emperor
Veritas (Also in a contemporary world)
Zen Martial Arts Academy (likewise)

Chinese:
Combat Continent (Like Id, not so much the main story, but the prologue is set in such a world and consequently the MC is from there
City of Darkness
Storm Riders
The Lawless
Blood & Steel

Japanese:

The only one i can think of that really fits the Murim concept, that is two morally contrary factions of super powered martial artist in competition, for me is Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi, I think, in general, the Japanese comics don't subscribe to the idea of factions, instead it's each school for itself.

Vood-Lol, yes I just googled it & used the first thing I found. Its was like the breaker wiki or something. I thought Murim was made up to until i picked up Tale of Eun Aran. I guess it still is.

Sunde-Until Death Do Us Part is a good suggestion. Only thing that puts me off is the prequels/sides stories/adaptation. Reading reviews there is a certain order?
Sumomomo Momomo From the description & genre it feels more of a comedy than anything. Even so, ill pick it up in case I need a light read. I appreciate your suggestions. i'll pick up Til Death to see how far I can go without being confused.

Lonegun- Wow thanks for the suggestions. I've read Yongbi &loved it. Id isnt exactly what im looking for. There are no clans & im not going to the fantasy with overpowered spells kind of story. I read Veritas a while back. The premise is what I was somewhat looking for but I did not like the lead. I'll definitely try the rest of ur suggestions.

Thanks guys

1980 is the oldest reference i have of said stuff:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0336882/

Murim seems to be related to Korean culture and i bet it is like that chinise "mystical" martial arts the ones in storm warriors.
