what i mean unique male protagonist here is a guy whose past is dark and gloomy. maybe he even hated humanity before. but at the start of manga, he seems meek, kind, and even harmless. or a kind, smiling guy who will do unimaginable things like killing his own master or doing massacre or plotting the end of the world.

i need something like:
- Togusa from Hitogatana >> he was vicious (as if he would kill anyone who called him with his 'hated name') before joined AKCD but now he's just a kind guy.
- Black Bullet >> well, it may count.
- Saber from Fate/Prototype >> a dreamy and prince-like MC who killed his master out of justice. it's not manga though...
- Julius Visconti from God Eater 2 >>

sorry, i can't find many examples.
but, a protagonist like in Dendrobates isn't counted. he's already seemed vicious even in 'disguise'.
and Naruto isn't counted at all. i need a kind guy not a silly boy, mind you.

if the guy like that isn't a protagonist, i guess supporting characters are fine......

I haven't read any of the manga you listed, so I'm not quite sure what you're looking for, but maybe:

Gunka no Baltzar: the protagonist seems quite friendly and idealistic at first, until those moments when you go "Wait a moment, he's kind of a bad guy. D: "
Pandora Hearts: well... not the main character, but most of the characters in the series aren't what they seem.
Durarara!!: well, nothing particularly evil, but several normal and friendly-looking characters do turn out to have a lot more to them.
Kubera: Kubera has 10 main characters actually. Among them, Yuta appears at first to be a sweet, friendly and polite little thing. Except, you know, until you realize he eats his prey alive. And he kind of wants to munch on a certain character. Several side characters also seem quite friendly at first, until you realize their hidden agenda (Visnu, Claude Yui, etc.)

well, damn. i've read all except Kubera. sorry....

you could try Legend of the Sun Knight -manhwa does not go far but the novel shows the MC's true evil sides(at the end of the 3rd and 4th volumes especially). and i definitely recommend the novel if you have not read it, sun is definitely a very unique male lead. he is actually a very funny and fun person but has a side of him that would do anything to protect what he wants to.
