But I've gotta nominate Hunter x Hunter for number one. It's got all the elements of a typical shounen, but is somehow able to make them awesome and unique! The characters, plot and setting are all purely shounen, but are all ridiculously amazing and interesting. Definitely the best in my opinion!

Hunter x Hunter sucks, that manga follows overused cliche arcs. Oh fighting tournament so new! Its not, it might get better in later chapters, but I couldn't even make it to those chapters.

My favs(excluding shounen romances)
One Piece
Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
Naruto
Beelzebub
Arata Kangatari
Bakuman

ah
thank you
i think hunter x hunter sucks too
its extreamly boring and the art is horrible
not to mention that it borrows ALOT of stuff even scenes more or less right off from other popular jump titles

take his earlier YuYu Hakusho
much better art
alot more interesting
better characters

what went wrong...i think he started to suck as a mangaka after he got married to Sailor moons creator

o should put in that...
my current top3 would be
YuYu Hakusho
Gintama
Sket Dance

Absolutely awesome shounen mangas:
Full metal Alchemist - amazing!
One Piece - one word: EPIC!!!!
Noblesse - bishie heaven
Yankee Kun To Megane Chan- Wowing
Kyou Kara Ore Wa- Only manga to make me actually laugh out loud ( i usually just smile)
& my personal favourite=Hunter X Hunter (everyone has different tastes... And I like this because I'm a kid and the main characters are kids too)

Edit: How could i forget 1/2 Prince!? I seriously like the novel, and the manga is funny and has good art! The characters are interesting too... Lol at Gui!
The 'blood elf moments' of Prince is just TOO hot to not love too! *Drools*

Gotta go with Hunter X Hunter (up to the Chimera Ant arc)
Certain parts are cliche, but Gon's attitude was not. And do you usually find a best friend/ex-assasin. Or a psychopathic, possibly pedophic, killer who later become an ally and almost-friend?

So the parts covered by the anime, make this my "Best Shounen".
During the Chimera Ant part, the art does fail (possibly because he was sick), and the story loses focus. Can't say much about HxH since then since I haven't started reading it again.

One Piece takes the show....I dont know if they r Shounen off the top of my head but my next would be Slam Dunk and Godhand Teru; I agree with everyone who said HunterxHunter just wasnt that great though.

In terms of plot/characters/comedy/excitement/powers I think *The Top Shounen Manga* can't really be decided. There are too many hard critics and little will be resolved. Of course opinions will heard none the less but I think people should really start to sub-categorized shounen doesn't anyone agree?

I'd vote One Piece in terms of powers. Their childish pirate theme but impending (here comes another fight) plot style is great to me. The fights too. I love Devil Fruits lol. So unique.

Of course many would argue that dbz tops all in powers/fights. I like it too...but it's simple power system made it the "god-hand" of anime which pisses me off bcz half the dbz fans I know think everything is stolen from dbz (you've got to be inspired from something man, ideas don't pop out of nowhere...seriously that's scientifically impossible it's built from other ideas/concepts) and while I did love the anime for it's fights. Honestly I think it's easy to come with them, lol. But I'm a writer too so... I don't wanna give the mangaka credit bigrazz It's different for everyone.

Excitement-Mahou Sensei Negima-Excitement just means you wanna see what happens next. It's not the plot necessarily but the atmosphere. So since atmosphere is personal you know...magic,school life, martial arts, monsters, vampires and what-not. Even more later on.

Comedy-To-Love-Ru I know I haven't read that many manga (I've read 20, I think.). I should prbly read more cuz there's sure to be something funnier. All the while it's still pretty damn funny.

Plot-Death Note-unfortunately I never got past Light vs. L and was spoilered. While I never read the whole thing, I give them credit bcz I was literally on the edge of my seat while watching this.

I'm going to have to draw a blank on the 'best.'

My favourites, however, are:
Fullmetal Alchemist
Yotsubato! <--- still think of it as seinen these days...
Aria
Black Jack

Of all time: One Piece. I know it's really good, like, I REALLY do, but I'm just not the type to read something that's really long. I've watched and read enough of it to know it's definitely the best one out there.
My best shounen that I keep up with: Samurai High School. I absolutely love everything about it, especially the art and comedy.

Best Shounen of all time is definitely Dragon Ball. Anyone who says otherwise is because one (or more) of the followings:
a) didn't read it (watching the anime doesn't count);
b) Don't realize that it came out in the 80's (i.e. it created the "shounen jump manga");
c) are haters/trolls;

For the best shounen coming out right now, I would say Shingeki no Kyojin.

Best shounen of all time for me would be Shaman King, Rurouni Kenshin, Death Note.
Other good ones are Dragon Quest (love it :hahasmile, Prince of Tennis, Hikaru no Go (though it died a little when Sai disappeared).

Best shounen coming out right now... Bakuman? Beelzebub?
D.Gray-man would be great too if it weren't for the author's injury none
Oh, not to mention Nurarihyon no Mago biggrin awesome awesome awesome

One Piece, it wins all else by a mile. The excitement I get waiting for the next chapter is almost palpable. The well balanced mix of action, plot developement and comedy has earned my greatest respect.

Beelzebub is a good startup, the best in the past few years. Somehow I don't feel that it gets too caught up in fights, and although it may sometimes trade off plot for more comedy, it is still one series I really look forward to.

Why did someone say dragonball? I want to ask that member how old he is. *.* Not that I hate it but...dragonball? why?
