This week's poll from kitty1826x is similar to something from 2008, but oh well... What level of realism do you like in your series?

You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related)
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: When was the last time you read a non-manga related book outside of school purely for pleasure?
Choices:
Right now! - votes: 3108 (29.2%)
A few days ago - votes: 2323 (21.8%)
A few weeks ago - votes: 1189 (11.2%)
A few months ago - votes: 1506 (14.1%)
Over a year ago - votes: 850 (8%)
So long ago that I don't remember - votes: 1670 (15.7%)
There were 10646 total votes.
The poll ended: November 1st 2014

I'm glad a lot of you are reading other stuff!

I prefer when manga aren't too much realistic.

I see enough realistic things in real life.

It depends on what kind of "unrealistic" we're talking about. I like fantasy and supernatural manga; but if I'm reading a slice of life and the protagonist suddenly sprouts wings and flies off into space to fight an alien overlord who's never been mentioned up til this point, then I'm not happy. A little bit of stretching logical boundaries within the confines of the genera is fine. I read as an escape from reality, so I don't require "normal" or "logical" in order to like what I'm reading. Throwing in something completely off the wall in the midst of an established manga/story line, though, is not okay.

Indifferent in part as I like both, realistic and unrealistic, there's probably a limit to both but a good story can be anywhere.

I love fantasy and supernatural elements, but i dislike when the characters themselves act unrealistically. I find that extremely annoying.

yeah this heavily depends on how you define it for yourself.

for me anything unrealistic is ok. and generally much appreciated, it is fiction after all. the 'over the top' stuff would be when the characters do completely unrealistic stuff i.e. their thought process is just not realistic (or doesn't make sense). yes, I look at you crappy generic shoujo heroines and crappy generic shounen heroes...
this is pretty much the only thing I cannot stomach...

If we are talking about genres such as slice of life versus fantasy, I like both but prefer realistic manga.

But when it comes to story development and characters' behavior, I hate unrealistic manga. I don't like reading manga where I'm thinking in the back of my head "No one would react like that" or "There's no way anyone would make that decision." Unfortunately, this happens a lot in "realistic" genres such as romance.

Either its over the top or realistic, as long the writing is good, I'll read it. And guess what, art also not a priority for me. If the author write something profound like Moby-Dick level manga, even if the art is crap while using realistic/over the top scenes, I'm gonna buy it.

That's why I gave Monster, Slam Dunk, Berserk, Tower of God, Angel Densetsu, Azumanga Daioh, Ping Pong a very high rating, even though they are from different genre with distinct style of writing.

It doesn't really matter.

Most people tend to be able to ignore what's unrealistic on a story, but not what's unlikely.
99% of manga is unrealistic, it's just that some have aspects that are easier to identify as realistic, even if that's not necessarily the case.

Indifferent

I have no strong feelings one way or the other.

Well for "over the top" that phrase can mean a good thing or a bad thing. I believe the whole point of fiction is to be independent of reality, and I love it when manga gets really crazy to the point of being creative.

Not so much when the manga is doing things that is even stupid in their own setting.

What a wonky poll.

Due to its poor phrasing and even worse choices, I choose Indifferent.

If it makes sense in context of the story, the more unrealistic, the better. If it doesn't make sense in context, such garbage.

i find with it as long it follow it own logic, so the manga have to set up it own logic if a fanasty type or sci fi. if i a sport manga better be realistic.
