That doesn't explain why you would be happy. I wouldn't care of a Yaoi translator shut down. It would just be a thing that happened that is completely irrelevant to me either way.

Even if you don't like hentai, this really isn't cause to be happy since there are many more hentai translators out there.

I was about to fall into Godwin Law. Wanting things that you don't like to disappear when they don't do any harm (in some cases, even preventing it) it's called intransigence, and that's not a very good trait to have.

Also, T1, going by what he says in his farewell message, he's a professional translator (a RL one), so he'd probably won't need more "donations", and, from a very little bit of investigation of reasons for quitting translating or closing thematic manga sits, he either got busted to his close environment or he has changed religions (or gotten serious with the one he's in), meaning chances of return are very unlikely.

I don't like Tadanohito, but I think it's a shame for people for people interested in the stuffs he worked on. I won't miss him though, that's for sure. But I can understand some people would miss him.

I agree with you NightSwan. He would professionally translate all the projects he would involve himself with.

I never had issues with the language grammar or sfx.
I also loved how his site had an option of direct downloading and an online reader.
I even remember when he recommended tons of other scanlations that weren't done by him, like for example, Ne.To.Ge (Lovers in Cyber World)

Interesting. But isn't it weird that he never once did a doujinshi/parody-series at all? Why only focus on original hentai series? Very unfortunate. If we're talking money, he probably would have made 6 times more money than he did with his many releases...

Also, I find it odd that he attempted to translate: Hungry Heart
It's the only thing that he did that was non-hentai. But it was an uninteresting series in my opinion.

But he probably introduced that series to you because he scanlated other series by the same author who did Ne.To.Ge. Scanlations like, Karen Chameleon, Narikiri Lovers, and Let's Play Lovegames, Shall We?. At the time, he probably saw it as a way to get people interested so that they could donate. You may have seen it as your benefit, but it was more or so to grab as much attention as possible.

Although in the first place, I wouldn't become a professional translator because of the lack in employment. Anyway, he won't be back...that is until he's out of job and need mone..."donations" and "commissions" again.

He did get "donation" and "commissions" for doing licensed titles. So companies may have sent him a nice mail after 8 years. We will never know. ROFLMAO@changing religions!

I think you're wrong. Many scanlation groups have preferences. His preference was to only scanlate original series. Although it may seem from a certain point of view that he was in it for the money, he did it as a hobby. Keep in mind that he started doing this about 9+ years ago. During those times, people scanlated for the fun of it. The thrill of sharing the reading experiences across the borders of Japan to around the world so that everyone can enjoy what they've experienced. That is what Tadanohito is all about, in my opinion. But he also had hosting and servers to take care of. Which was why he needed donations. And I'm sure he did projects that many scanlation groups would ignore, which was why people were willing to help donate for the pages needed for him to spend his effort. And in my opinion, if it was all about the money, I'm sure Tadanohito would have been a millionaire by now. People were donating like crazy back in days just for him to scanlate certain projects.



Tadanohito is a soccer sports guy I think. He was scanlating manga from the early 1990s. So I think he's an older dude. Like imagine a scanlation group that has been scanlating a certain series like, Berserk. That manga is suuuuuper old. But people who read it during the time it was serialized will have it very special in their hearts because it was what sparked their interest in manga or something. Again, this is all speculation.



I think you may be right ...but at the same time wrong. I'm not quite sure, but I think there was a time gap between the time he introduced Ne.To.Ge between when he scanlated other series by the same author.

I don't know about you, but in my case, he introduced that series to me due to me talking in the comments section of his site about a certain NEW anime at the time called, Dance in the Vampire Bund. So he wanted me to know that the same author who got his manga series adapted into an Anime also made hentai series. Which led to how popular project requests started flooding his doors into translating more of his hentai works.

Anyways, I just realized that one of the series I listed wasn't scanlated by him - Ero Wife. I just remember it being listed in his site to download. Even mangaupdates doesn't have the scanlation-group data responsible for its translation. But I did like the long-ass (probably the LARGEST LONG RUNNING) hentai series called Shining Musume. I'm sure he scanlated few of the missing volumes of that series.

In short, I'm just saying he was one of the very few h-scanlators that I actually liked.

Sure scanlation groups have preferences, but isn't it weird that he isn't just a regular scanlation group that consists of 2-3 people or more. He's ONE GUY! ONE PERSON. I don't see how one person should stick to his values so strongly when opportunities as awesome as doujinshi's are screaming for translations. Doujins are the types of series that are less likely capable of being licensed by English publishers in the first place.

And don't compare Berserk to Hungry Heart. Berserk has reached the hearts of every generation will inspire future generations to come. Hungry Heart is a piece of crap. PERIOD. I don't need to explain myself. Even Whistle! is 5x-times better than Hungry Heart.


Dance in the Vampire Bund's anime was good, but it lacked the consistent story flow of the manga. That is why it didn't get a season two. So is Tadanohito was using the anime to stimulate scanlation growth of the same author's hentai works to gain popularity on donations, it most likely backfired on him. Again, this is my opinion.


I'm not saying I don't like him. I'm just saying that he didn't use his talents to his fullest potential.
