Hi, I'm looking for anime series that aren't adapted after manga (that way, I would rather read the manga); it can be after a novel, I don't read those.
completed, without a lot of spin offs, best if it's just one series + one movie most. It must have an ending, no open ones.

I watched:
Eureka 7
Samurai Champloo
Texhnolyze
flcl
paranoia agent
princess tutu
ergo proxy
baccano
madoka magica
arjuna
dennou coil
cowboy bebop
wolfs rain
noir
Legend of the Galactic Heroes
kino no tabi
haibane renmei
noein
(I listed only the ones I liked, too much to look for otherwise)
thanks

How about these:

Eden of the East
RahXephon (Mecha)
The Vision of Escaflowne (Mecha, Fantasy, and there was a manga adaption of this anime, do not read it no )
Witch Hunter Robin (Urban Fantasy)
Darker Than Black (Urban Fantasy-ish, there was a manga adaption of this anime, no idea how the manga was)
Peguindrum (Magical Realism kinda)
X'amd: Lost Memories (Fantasy)
Last Exile (Sci-Fi/Fantasy)

Well, you have Noir listed, so the other two of the Beetrains girls with guns -trilogy should work pretty well. Madlax and El Cazador De La Brujah

Heroic Age was pretty good.
Scrapped Princess there is a manga of it as well, but the manga and anime have little in common beside a few broader plot points.
Stellvia of the Universe

Seconding RahXephon, Last Exile and Escaflowne

Recommendations from me and others that fit the criteria can be found inside Exclusively Anime. There is a second related link in my post too. Watch Macross Plus which is my favorite OVA series and that format is currently dead sad . A shame.

Are you okay with animes adapted from (light) novels? A number of my favorites are those: Twelve Kingdoms, Crest of the Stars (and sequels), Scrapped Princess.

Bakemonogatari is also based off a light novel. Kill la Kill is a Studio Trigger original. Most other stuff I'd mention is already in posts above.

And if you're interested in them, all Gundam and Macross stuff is anime original.

Edit: Forgot Durarara, which is animated by the same studio that did Baccano (Brain's Base) and is also based off light novels from the same author (Narita Ryougo).

Tench Muyo! Ryo-Ohki OVA-series (4 series actually, 20 episodes in total, I think...) + Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari and GXP spinoffs, but they CAN be watched separately.
Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199
Ghost Slayers Ayashi Ending was a bit "WTF" but otherwise a solid anime.
Kakumeiki Valvrave
Vividred Operation Butts FTW...
Rinne no Lagrange
Fractale
Michiko to Hacchin
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Karas
Kiss Dum R: Engage Planet That extra R is important. The release without the R sucks.
Soukou no Strain
Innocent Venus
Zegapain
Blood+
Top o Nerae! and sequel
Renkin San-kyuu Magical? Pokaan

Aaaand just beacuse... AniDB.net Tag - new
