K so I am currently reading Haru Matsu Bokura ... Love it, love the art. But it's very typical shoujo.

And then there's the totally typical scene of the guy grabbing the girl's hand to run across the street. Or you can see in so many shoujo mangas where the guy grabs the girl's hand so she won't get lost in a large crowd. And this is usually when they're not dating (yet).

SERIOUSLY! CAN A GIRL REALLY NOT RUN ACROSS A CROSSWALK BY HERSELF?!!

Is anyone else sick of this?! Do guys actually grab girls' hands that easily without even thinking about it? Maybe it's so busy in Japan that people hold hands all the time, but I feel like it's weird if you're not dating.

Actually surprisingly this does happen, depending on the guy. I think I can remember being young and innocent, and holding/ wanting to hold a guy's hand was the major hurdle to cross before you get to the going out part. I can see why this trope is used. IRL some guys will try to find an excuse to hold your hand if they want to, so if it's to help a girl cross the street, why not? Here in LA some guys slip their hand on your back as you walk across the street. Yes, it's cliche. But I love it when the scene is cliche but is done RIGHT, so rather than feel unsatisfied, you're walking on cloud nine instead. (∗❛ัᴗ❛ั∗)

I'm honestly not really a huge fan of it, but I can see why a lot of girls enjoy it. The only person I'd ever want to hold hands with would be my boyfriend :c

It actually baffles me how in shoujo manga, girls always seem to get themselves lost while they're on a date or a school trip while thinking about the male love interest lol ... "I want to hold their hand..." She thinks as she walks around aimlessly, not paying attention to the fact that she's walking away from her group or boyfriend ... Manages to find herself surrounded by a group of delinquent like guys who want to take her out cuz she's cute, but you know - they have an ulterior motive.

I mean, ... What?
