So many good titles.
I'll have to think a while about this before I vote.

Exactly. I knew Seinen would be difficult for me.

I still choose Tokyo Ghoul in the end, which got me hooked the most. Glad to see Hoshi no Samidare in there though eyes

I love Vinland Saga & Monster, but if i have to choose one, my choice will be Vinland. Vinland won't be the winner though.

Sad YKK didn't get enough nominations to show up on the secondary list. Best manga I've read.

Ping Pong is another masterpiece missing.

Generally speaking seinen is the genre with the most good series, sad that so many violent series are on the list. They are good but often ends up repetitive in my eyes (I tend to read entire series/large batches at once instead of follow them weekly).

Dance in the Vampire Bund is my actual favorite... but didn't make cut at all =(
Oh well, voted for Berserk... because in the list other than Berserk and Hoshi no sumidere I didn't even read anything, and don't want to based on description...

Tug-of-war between Monster and Liar Game for me, but since neither will win, I guess it doesn't really matter. Went with LG, in the end.

But there's no doubt that this is going to end up being a battle between Berserk, Ghoul and One Punch, all of which are violent. Makes sense, since the target demographic is men. And let's face it: these polls show us what's popular, not what has actual literary merit. No point in using the polls as a gauge for how good a story is, only for how enjoyable it is according to mainstream tastes.

well it is majority wins, an anime become mainstream if a majority likes it. and not all mainstream are bad and all mainstream anime/manga didnt start as a mainstream anime/manga. well except for some.

Which tastes the polls reflect depend on who you're polling, but it's fortunate in the case of this one that currently Berserk is ahead, so the best-written work on the list is actually winning for once.

Aww, too bad REAL didn't make it.
Looks like 2 of each Inoue Takehiko, Ishida Sui, and Urasawa Naoki's works got included/nominated here, so that's great to see. eyes

I've read 5 of the series in the polls. But in the end, I also had to pick between Liar Game or Monster, and I voted for the latter instead.

I was able to decide nearly instantly myself. I've read all of these and my favorite was a tie between berserk and monster. I went with berserk in the end. Gore won it for me.

It´s good to see that the last shoujo queen was dethroned last second by a slightly less stale piece of bread and i would also like to joint the club of users who didn't get why a clear cut seinen manga was up for a shoujo award...

The top of the line selection and the 5 left behind are unexpectedly exceptional as my lowest score for all of them but Kingdom/One Punch Man is a 8/10 (TG:re drags it down btw.) and even these 2 (6/10) have an appeal i can get behind. While i wish for Guts to slaughter the competition i will also note that i nominated Monster and Vinland Saga while Real and Parasyte are runner ups so all my 5 votes are present in a way. Not bad MU!

There is less slice of life and borderline shounen titles than expected and again no pr0n but the selection does show that seinen is the most diverse of the demographics by far. I will also disagree with you my dear calstine that One Punch Man is "violent" as DBZ/Naruto should have more "gore" and the top 3 so far are all bestsellers, internationally published, award winners (TG´s award is only for the well done pilot one-shot but that should change soon) and were all adapted into a vast array of different mediums.
One Punch Man even proves the growing importance of web publications while Tokyo Ghoul uses it´s violence very sparingly (i go over that in my review) and is way less objectionable than let´s say your Monster which is my runner up. No.3 is Vinland Saga which is Berserk with no fantasy. Hoshi no Samidare (that author is golden btw.) should be the only manga with no award to it´s name of all the 15 present as TG:re is just a renumbered vol.15 so it shouldn't even be here.

Berserk may be the poster child for the misconception that seinen is all testosterone and gore and rape and rrrrrighteous slaughter but it is also one of the most feministic narratives to come out of the Japanese comic market by a long mile (the abysmal movie trilogy is not and is the worst thing that happened to the franchise by far). It is further a very calm narrative if you look at the how much time Miura spends with build up, characterization of the supporting cast and world building. Never forget that Chi's Sweet Home and Crayon Shin-chan are the definition if how a successful seinen title can look like too and horror conventions attendance is further very gender balanced. Dark suspense or action movies fill the Imdb top 250 every year too so saying than only men between 18-30 would be into such is nonsense and i already went over how and why male targeted manga are (sadly) more interesting and free to do what they want than one´s that target females in my recent poll so i will leave it be and i may actually prefer modern top of the line shoujo publications over shounen ones but i will spare you the lengthy explanation.
The presence of the current looser Oyasumi Punpun (read my review) is highly interesting too as it reads like a Japanese take on novels as American Psycho or Fight Club and i would have never expected to see such a series show up. Slow clap MU.

Never forget that seinen is right and Berserk is the best (i also accept Hi no Tori) but nothing can beat a top of the line Batman comic.
PS: Berserk chapters leak a week early (just like SJ manga) on the Berserk reddit so have a look as i have already read c.340 a few days ago wink .

Ooooooo hard one. Choice between Berserk and Monster..... I have to pick Monster. Notable series besides Berserk and Monster are Vagabond and Liar Game which I'd recommend people to check out if you don't know these titles.
