Never had, never will. It is more than sixty percent of people who don't read it combined with people who only read a couple. I'm actually quite surprised that 30% of people here reading web novels. Hope they are not mistaking it with 'Light Novel' or 'Novel'.

I'm happy to see a like minded individual. I've read half of the ones you've recommend already, and they are enjoyable.
Are they good? Hell if I know, I'm a horrible critic. It's better than half of the never ending shounen and shoujo manga series that everybody fanboys/fangirls over, at least.

There is a LOT of garbage laying around the entertainment world. Luckily, if we sift through it long enough we will find treasures, some, more golden than others. Tossing the majority of these amateur works will only make our treasure harder to find, if not entirely prevent the rough gems to be polished.

Every writer starts an amateur after all.

?!?

Maybe I'm not reading the same web novels as you guys, but I've found most web novels to be worse than the never ending shounen and shoujo manga series that everybody fanboys/fangirls over.

Its especially ironic since Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari is a web novel which
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
time looped its own story, literally making it never ending.

You might not be, but I can recommend a few enjoyable ones.

Jashin Average (Novel) is one of my favorites. Unfortunately it's short, but it's a fun ride.
Suterareta Yuusha no Eiyuutan (Novel) is where the vengeful MC actually gets his revenge. Multiple times, and for life.
Isekai Mahou wa Okureteru! (Novel), has a pretty interesting setup and its a fun one to read.
Kenja no Deshi wo Nanoru Kenja (Novel), this here is kinda gimmicky. Not for everyone.
Oukoku e Tsuzuku Michi (Novel) It's been awhile since I've read this one, it started great.
Mushoku Tensei (Novel) is one hell of an adventure, nothing more to say.

As for what haohao229900 recommended, I enjoyed these

Only Sense Online (Novel) is another favorite. This game is my ultimate fantasy game.
Risou no Himo Seikatsu (Novel) another one with a unique setup, read, at the least, vol 1.
Konjiki no Moji Tsukai (Novel) more OP MC? Well, this one has a great protag. He gives no shits for anyone but himself, for good reasons.
The Black Knight Who Was Stronger than Even the Hero (Novel), this one is just gold. A female MC is already rare enough, and Chie is great.

I actually haven't read more than a few volumes of Tate no Yuusha, I got bored with it and dropped it.

If you'd like to go off topic and discuss web novels that aren't database'd here, send me a PM. There are plenty of good english ones around.

confusedconfusedconfused

Have you actually the novels you're recommending or are you just recommending them because someone else recommended them? Cause nearly everything you recommended is on par with a 'shounen and shoujo manga series that everybody fanboys/fangirls over'. (You recommended a web novel whose title is 'The Black Knight Who Was Stronger than Even the Hero'. Are you seriously going to try claiming it isn't a shounen/shoujo story?)

I'm sure there are (good) web novels that aren't(maybe they are?) database'd here that even a jerk like me could like. But it was always my (naive?) hope that over time the cream of the crop would rise to the top, yet that obviously hasn't happened.

I actually read the other novels that he recommended with the exception of Jashin Average (Novel)(Haven't got the time to read) and Oukoku e Tsuzuku Michi (Novel)(Which I probably wouldn't be reading). The reasons I didn't recommend them was that they are further from the taste of most people or that they're more typical.

It's true that The Black Knight Who Was Stronger than Even the Hero (Novel) is considered shoujo, but it is also true that it isn't the typical kind of shoujo that you'll find out there which was why I would like to recommend it to others.

And although I don't know if he actually read that many novels(like I do bigrazz ), but I'm pretty sure that there are more people than you would've expected out there that actually bothers to try to get to those rough diamonds out there biggrin
