Lolz, though this might come a bit late but thanks for your thanks biggrin ...It is kind of useless in a mangawise because of the new tagging system, but dramas and movies of this genre still dont have a nice long list anywhere so this covers as much as I can add....I never did get around to watch Harold and Maude, because that is quite extreme for me.

I have come to discover that in real life more and more people are doing this, though the age gap thing was there even in Shakespeare's time (Anne Hathaway and Shakespeare married when he was 18 and she was 26 or 24, pregnant wth his child wink ). Real life couples beside Demi and Ashton that is so famous - Alfred Moline (Law and Order :LA) and Jill Gascoine - ages 57 and 73 resp - 16 years age gap.
James McAvoy (The last king of Scotland, Atonement) and Anne Marie Duff - 9 years age gap

Hmmmm... I, personally, don't think it's useless. embarrassed Heheh. smile The readers can have a clue of what they will read. And can pick the ones they prefer. Like the side infos you included after the titles. I know what type of pairing, the age gap, etc. Because, for me, it's a waste of time looking at all the titles with that category but only a few matches up to my taste. *sighs* Let's say the mentioned category was literally taken. "Older female younger guy". Even if the female looks younger to the guy, as long as her age is older, of course, it can be categorized with that category.

But, for someone like me, I like mangas with that category but realistic. And that it shows. If the female is 10 years older, I like to see some difference in appearance. Realistic. Sure, some people prefer mangas with older female as the lead but with looks like the same age as of the guy, but doesn't it beats the purpose of that category? Hahaha. But, oh well.

That's where threads like this come in the picture. It's like categorizing the category. Like breaking it down. Like: "Older female younger guy: Female looks older.", or, "Older female younger guy: Female looks like the same age as the guy", or, "Older female younger guy: Female looks younger (Baby face)", or some along with those. smile wink grin

So it's not useless!!! Heheheh.

The age gap needs to be at least 5 years to be considered older imo 1 year means nothing

Its nice to c ppl follow my train of thought. I think esp mangas the reason we readers look for this genre is because we want to see a smart, with it female protagonist wthout any silly shenanigans and a fun loving guy who shows ardent admiratn fr our heroine wthout being obnoxiously sadistic all wth an element of forbidden love perhaps. And also no idiotic surprise of, oooh , cant believe he chose me! U dont realise unless u read quite a lot of shoujos tht u get carried away in the self deprecatory nature of th main girl, n that a man seems to th be all of a female's existence.

Quite a horrible way of nurturing the nubile minds of young women. The influence of such mangas r apparent in sme japanese women, have heard that some hv the rape fantasy n encourage boyfrns to enact them (a fact heard frm a guy who has had quite a number of jp gfs)

True.smile That's why I don't just read shoujo mangas. Heheh. Coz I don't like getting annoyed somehow. And that's also why spoilers are okay. biggrin Even if my friends read shoujos with you-know-what-stories.

Sooo true. *sighs*. I'm sure there are some mangas that's like that but in my case... there aren't many. Man, I'm pretty picky. Heheh. Coz if the female lead looks friggin young or the same age as of the boy, the older female younger male category is ruined for meeee! cry So you can say, I like it realistic enough to convince me I am reading the category I like. *sniff*sniff*

Not very helpful for those girls with low self-esteem. sad They really might believe that one day a good-looking guy will arrive and suddenly sweep their off their feet. Just like stories with that. It's possible but... it doesn't really happen that often to girls in real life. They have to have confidence more, and trust in their selves. And that reality is different.

One thing I really DON'T like about shoujos. Period. Oh, and about the fangirls in the mangas that squeals at the sight of bishounen guys... I know it's for comedy but, personally, it's annoying. Heheh. Sometimes, I think, why does the male lead has to be handsome? or the female?

Hmmm... about that... I agree. They have to read mangas that is more realistic. And remember the difference of reality with mangas. Heheh. none And of course, think.

Hmmm... What do you mean? Kindly explain more. Heheh. smile

PS: I didn't think this reply has gotten SO LONG. Gaaaah! And to think I revised this to be shorter. *sighs* I'm so lame. It's almost a page long... Must be of the way I write my sentences. I'm sorry! This is the last time I'm going to write such long reply... cry

Dont worry about the length, its time that we discuss why we like what we like...instead of giving an impression that its a lewd sort of indulgence on our part...

well, ths frnd of mine quoted an example that amused me. At her insistence, he played the dominating/sort of forceful part as she wanted. But being the sweet decent guy that he was, after all was done as per plan, he spoilt it all by asking, "Are you alright?"
