you have ever received? Do you like to be complimented and how? Do you mind being complimented by the same gender, how it feels?

"You have such long, beautiful, thick hair!"
No, I don't like being complimented. Its a good thing I don't get complimented often. It makes me nervous, and I always feel like people only compliment me so they can make me lower my guard and then manipulate me... -Shrugs- It comes from reading too many manga/books, I suppose.
I don't care. Actually, I've only ever received compliments from girls before (aside from my father, but fathers compliment their daughters on everything, so he doesn't count), since they're the only ones who give a damn about my hair. XD

"Nice Ass"
I am a guy. So was the person who said that. I found it inspiring.

I'm not exactly sure what the "best" compliment I've ever gotten was. I'm the sort of person that takes things like "...you can really be kind of scary sometimes..." as a compliment, so maybe that says a bit more?
In all seriousness it would probably be something relating to my intelligence or personality, rather than appearance. Appearances can change and the like, and they're passive anyway, so something like "your haircut looks nice" or "I love that shirt!" don't really mean particularly anything to me, and make me nervous if the other person is too emphatic about it.
The individual person complimenting me matters more than their sex. I mean, getting a compliment from another guy wouldn't necessarily mean that there was any sort of attraction from them, and even if that was implied, that's sort of a common joke among people I know anyway, so it wouldn't bother me.

NightSwan also said that she wanted to peg me, once, but I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or a threat...

Uhm that would be that one time. They said: You've got potential/talent.
Makes me feel happy 😀

um, I like it when people compliment my shoes. I tend to really like my shoes and I also like it when people agree with me. Pretty much any other compliment i don't agree with and see it as flattery aimed at getting me to like the complimenter. Any compliments on my looks from guys (depending on how well i know them) are either thinly veiled attempts to get in my pants or a running gag. Any compliments from girls (depending on how well I know them/ their ability to judge appearance) i look at as blatant lies or supportive confirmation of what I'm doing right. When guys compliment my shoes though I get really confused. I've had a group of 5 or six really geeky, non-appearance focused guys all are that my shoes were really cute. It was creepy.
My favorite compliments are usually gender associated. I'm thrilled when anyone one says I'm masculine, feminine or gender neutral.
I also like when people say i've got a nice ass/ waist. I don't even know why. other complements dealing with my body make me wicked uncomfortable and I don't even agree that i even have a nice ass!
Sorry for being incoherent

"You have beutifull eyes."
"Your hair is like silk."
Can't they think anything else to say? 😐 Those things are getting dull anyway..
I hear those compliments alot in school and in the town.
It feels uncomfotable when someone compliments me, it kinda freezez me. Because I don't know how to react in situations like that.. What am I supposed to do in that situation? 😕

my self-defense mechanism goes off whenever someone compliment me...i would neither feel the need for returning that compliment nor passing it as a joke...i don't think people like that very much...

Wow, I just got the impression that I posted a really horrible topic 🤣
Well, I don't mind to be complimented by my friends and family, even if they are expected to do so (to some extent). They are important to me and I am glad when they find a reason to compliment me.
I appreciate compliments when they are sincere (it's easy to understand if they are not) even if it they are about clothes, hairstyle and so on, however I enjoy compliments on my personal qualities more. I wish I have more compliments from the guys about the latter instead of ... uhh... some other ones, but women have complimented me more and in a way I (at least) remember - like my ability to help them "for real", that I am good at making gifts, that I am interesting person, stuff like this (not necessarily true if they ask me, but considering the given cases, the fact they are conccurents, and generally people from whom I expect nothing special, I am flattered and I even blush).
not that i'm complimented by people, probably the best compliment was one related to being sarchastic (i interpreted it as a compliment...)
