Recently some scanlation team just scanlated another type of "Comic".
So far we only got Manga, Manhwa, Manhua, Doujin and OEL (while the Artbook, Drama CD and Novel can't be categorized as "Comic").

But lately another type of comic, for example Nusantara Droid War which is similar to Manhwa since it is published in Line Webtoon but actually Indonesian part of the Webtoon.
And since the nature of the work is not in English (it is in Indonesian) it can't be put into OEL.

Since the artstyle is still very similar to Manhwa and Manga I guess the choice to list this series in Mangaupdates is right, but should we make a new categorization for this kind of series mmm...~?

Not a bad question but OEL also encompasses all sorts to stuff and we give out manga to entries that were created by non-Japanese creators if they were commissioned for / published in proper manga anthologies.
I personally tend to view Line and friends as a form of Manhwa web anthology but i will admit that they occasionally republish regular American comics so there is no perfect answer i guess.
Edit: And it´s gone!

There are times when certain works like this one slips through the cracks, but I would say no (for the time being). No site covers everything (that are not within its scope). For example, MU accepts oneshots only if they are scanlated in English by a listed group and listed with a release whereas MyAnimelist includes non-scanlated ones. Also it is more manageable if the scope is small.

As for Line Webtoon (and any online platforms [similiar to it]), it allows one to publish his/her own comic. Let's say it is a self-published OEL work. It would go against MU policy because it does not accept such works.

Ah I see

I spotted some original Indonesian works in LINE and when I search for those titles, they're actually winners of a contest by LINE, so they're officially published in LINE

And if Indonesia already starting to draw these kind of comics I believe some of Non-OEL with similar style to Manga will come out in the future, whether they're published in widely known publisher like LINE webtoon or their own local publisher

When that time come, I guess a proposal has to be made so Mangaupdates will recognize these new type of comic which is, IMO, still in the family of Manga, Manhwa and Manhua from the artstyle in the site mmm...

The just approved My Pre-Wedding should be another Indonesian work.
Is it also up for the shopping block, now that i pointed it out? I will be on the lookout for more, if this is indeed a hard policy. I wrote my question in this public form and not a pm so that the whole community will get a chance to find out which webtoons are of concern to MU and which aren´t.

Edit: Maybe not? The FAQ really needs a bit of an update for how to treat web comics.

Yes I just realized that, I guess we need some announcement or even a poll how to treat these kind of pages, especially since some of them already scanlated into English mmm...

Two new series types had been added: "Thai" and "Indonesian".
They will be accepted as long as they have:
- scanlations fulfilling general conditions, or
- licensed publication in English
So same as Novels.
