Hi

I am looking for light novels to read. No Wuxia or Xianxia series please. No saving the world series as well. Any other genre is fine as long as the main characters are interesting and the plot is good ^^

Please don't suggest a novel with generic and boring MC (stupid/ kind hearted/naive). I like MCs who think about themselves first instead of the world. Really hate kind hearted protagonists who sacrifice themselves for others.

I have read/ am reading:

Spice & Wolf (Novel),
The Legend of Sun Knight (Novel),
Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (Novel),
Sword Art Online (Novel) (Not a fan)
Legendary Moonlight Sculptor (Novel) (It's too slow)

If possible no MMORPG novels please unless you believe they are must read.

Thanks.

Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyusoukyoku (Novel)
Rpg, im planning on reading this, and with what Ive heard, MC is pretty ,,, not that kind hearted towards others (other than his group[?])

RPG Shijie You Zenyang (Novel)
Maybe... Not kind hearted certain fits in my opinion.

My Disciple Died Yet Again (Novel)
Probably not since it is Xianxia and it is about saving the world, but it's not a typical Xianxia. I could say more, but it'd be spoiling things. The MC is relatively kind and such though.

Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka? (Novel)
It's pretty good but the translation has been kind of suffering more and more. I think it was mostly a machine translation in the first place.

There may have been someone giving it a more accurate translation but I haven't had a chance to check.

Jashin Average (Novel)
Was quite good in my opinion, although short.

There's also Ark (Novel) and it's sequel I suppose.

Also the MC for Death March is pretty kind by the way. it's just he's also not really putting others ahead of himself except for those in his group maybe.

There's probably better recommendations but these were just the ones off the top of my head. Sorry. u.u''

Log Horizon (Novel)
Though this one has MMORPG elements. It's vastly superior in it's kind - not the plot in itself. But with it's interesting Characters. You shoulg give it a try. At least. Read the first two Volumes before throwing it away.

The New Gate (Novel)
Another Novel with MMORPG elements. Sorry! Actually. Screw this one. Only wrote that 'cause it came to my mind.

Nejimaki Seirei Senki - Tenkyou no Alderamin (Novel)
This might not suit your taste. However. It fits you criteria. If i remember right...

Zetianji (Novel)
I know. Xianxia & Wuxia are absolutly no goes. Yet. I'm recommending this Xianxia. As it actually has great Characters and interactions inbetween them. Extremely slow paced even compared to other Xianxia's & Wuxias. the "Action" also is somewhat lacking.

Sadly. There aren't more that i can think of. At least. None that are worth reading. I believe - due to the Xianxia/Wuxia and MMORPG/"Reincarnated to a different world" boon - light novels have become less interesting. As the majority of translators seem to pick them. Instead of other greatly written Novels...

Dragon Life (Novel) Good, but the translation is kind of dead...

Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria (Novel) Finished with seven volumes, one of my favorite series. First volume is a time loop story where the same two days repeat more than 27,000 times.

Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou (Novel) Belongs to the saving the world category I guess, though the MC doesn't care about the world at all. And I wouldn't call him kind hearted, at least not after the first few chapters.

I second Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka? (Novel). It's a great one. Especially later, when the storylines of the different characters start to converge.

ed: And also second Rakuin no Monshou (Novel). It's very good.
