This week's poll was suggested by our member residentgrigo. You read any American comics? I guess the most well known are Marvel and DC, but there's plenty of other stuff out there. And Captain America: Civil War just came out! (Great movie, by the way. I highly recommend you watch it).
You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related)

So if the series has a strong female lead that grows a lot, then we're golden?

Well. One Piece, Skip Beat and Berserk for example do fall under both of this categories, though in different ways. One piece and Skip Beat are definitely 10 for me (Berserk is 9.8, but that is not Casca's fault, rather lack of Casca is at fault)

Same thing, and I don't like the drawings in general.

Difficult to vote for this one. I love Garfield (and I've collected quite a few volumes, too), and I read Archie and Peanuts and suchlike sometimes (though I don't buy them), but since none of those are what people think about when they say "American comics" ... Ah, well. Guess I'll vote for "Just a little."
I actually read more European comics. I have the whole series of Tin Tin and Asterix, at least. Actual physical copies, too, which - considering how expensive comics are in my country - was a real labour of love.

Never read an actual American comic book, but I've watched plenty of TV series and movies based on them. I never really had an interest in American comics because they all (or at the famous ones) seem to just be about superheroes, with the same storylines and themes repeated over and over. One of the things that really impressed me about manga is that there is a lot of diversity in the types of stories that are told.

Like the usual amount, though far less than Manga, Manhwa, Manhua (s) together. And these days I hardly read anything new.
Btw, do Movies, TV Series counts??
@lambchopsil - Yeah, that would be nice. But, only second to the male lead, who should be the protagonist. Personally, I don't find a series with a Female protagonist to be that enjoyable.

Among published/syndicated comics, I only like Calvin and Hobbes and Peanuts. There are some pretty good webcomics out there too.

I find almost all American comics to cliche - since they are, mostly, from long-established franchises, authors have not enough creative freedom, and blatant censorship that exist in the USA doesn't help either.
Latin American comics fare a bit better, but there's a problem with them not being in English...

I went with "lots, but more manga" since I counted American webcomics which are so awesome! Sometimes I get tired of manga artstyle which is fairly static across all demographics and genres so when I want a different sort of art and color, I go to American.
Also their fantasy/supernatural/sci-fi genres are a lot more diverse in a different way since there is a cultural/myth difference between Japan and US. The lgbt webcomics tend to have better characters too since the two different forms are doing different things with the genre, Japanese yaoi are definitely more for a female audience whereas Americans webcomics are trying show that there can be lgbt characters in fantasy/supernatural/sci-fi/superhero comics that are more than just lgbt.
So yeah, there's definitely a lot of good American comics, and they definitely draw male butts better than in manga.

Feels like this topic is going to be purely about the mainstream Marvel/DC comics franchises.
Kind of like asking non-Manga readers about Manga and all they know is the long-running Shonens that everyone hates.

I used to read a lot of american comics but I mostly only keep up with Deadpool comics nowadays. Too many reboots, retcons and "events" mixed with WIS and PIS by DC and Marvel soured me to them in general. Walking Dead was interesting but I can only take so much of the unrelenting crap sack world.
