looking for a character driven story with action

-needs to have: flawed & proactive protagonist, action
-can't have: protagonist with black & white moral value, yaoi, clearly poor artwork
-would be nice to have: some sort of powers or sci-fi technology,

good examples: Gantz, Vagabond, Shamo, Fullmetal Alchemist, 12 Kingdoms, Parasyte

-on a side note: would also be interested in a good recent gag manga
my tastes as far as that goes would be: Beelzebub, Sket Dance, Angel Densetsu, One Punch Man, Ippo

-side note 2: haven't read any good romantic comedies in a while either, anything recent worth reading?
my tastes have been: Nana, Koukou Debut, Kimi wa Pet, Kimi no Todoke, Beck

thanx in advance

hmm maybe Bokura no Kiseki I would say its story is character driven, but even though it has action sometimes its nothing like other action manga's. Its more about the mystery then action i guess.

Hoshi no Samidare sounds like it would be of interest to you. Story is all about the main characters growth and the action is interesting enough.

Birdmen is a recent series that seems promising, and the main character is pretty good.

- Bokura no Kiseki looks like what i'm looking for, thanx

- i've tried the first one, wasn't big on the MC / however, didn't know Tanabe Yellow had a new manga out, i'll definitely check Birdmen, thanx

I understand your complaint, but if you can endure the beginning, the MC gets a lot better as the manga goes on. I would say it's worth it, depending of how much you've read, of course.
