i'm honestly just curious, does anyone feel that Skip Beat is sort of dragging on, i mean, in the beginning it was totally cool cause she was so different than many other main characters in other manga, but it seems that the manga has no end and the dude (forgot his name) won't confess or anything. I'm totally caught up on the reading and the releases, but i would like to know how others feel about the length of this manga and the slow pace. give me your insight please! biggrin

Spoiler (highlight to view)
yea i kinda dont understand it after like volume 15 or 16 (where i stopped reading the series), she makes up with the guy who she hates (kinda) and it kinda takes away the purpose of hte manga. Then again a lot of manga drag on only because the publishers force the mangaka to keep writing (i.e Dragonball and Dragonball Z).

I'm mainly annoyed over the current mini-arc. Well, I suppose you could say it's over now, but the mangaka spent SO LONG on one stupid little party... let's just say I'm not exactly thrilled about that. But it really feels like it's stalling right now... let's just hope that the next couple of chapters (ie. 122 onwards) will get the plot moving again, or I might stop reading it out of sheer boredom.

I was a bit annoyed with the party since it took a while to wrap up.
I could care less about the relationships since that's part of what makes this series Skip Beat.
Right now I'm just interested in what kind of trouble she's going to get into now and how she's going to handle it.

I have enough patience for this length of manga, especially if they have done it well enough. As for the dragging on part, it rather feels like it's finally starting to pick up instead.

It's a monthly series, it's not really suppose to be that action-packed. Looking at other monthly series they don't move that fast either, Claymore has been kind of slow lately and same with Full metal alchemist. Even if you look at the weekly ones and slap 2-3 chapters together it's roughly the same pace.

Whatever really, I've got other things to do than worrying about manga length and pace. If it gets annoying then I won't read it, not like anyone's forcing me to read manga. roll eyes

I kinda assumed it was because I'm reading chapter by chapter now, having read everything available. I know I wouldn't mind if I could just whip through it in a day, allowing delays.

for me, it seems like the mangaka has no idea what to add >_>
also, 20 VOLUMES and absolutely NO pregress between the main characters?! wtf?! by now kyouko should have already realised she likes ren, and start worrying over what he thinks about her, resulting in a series of hillarious misunderstandings, interferance of the rival to the relationship, etc'
the who;e path is already there, but it looks like nakamura refuses to draw it already damnit for some reason...
sheesh... from the looks of it it will take 20 more volumes for the story to start moving.... >_>

Ah, I know.

I am what you call an ultrauberhardcorefan of Skip Beat! But... But I am currently so disappointed with the latest chapters. Almost no progress and no point.

I'm actually starting to get scared that the author might just abandon the series for lack of ideas. (Then again, if the author continues what she's writing now, she won't have to worry about that...)

I really love skip beat a lot even if it drags on... I dont need her to fall head over heels in love with Ren or Sho because kyouko rules even if she'll never end up with a guy XD Im kinda excited now the party is over and all because it looks like things are getting serious now.... Go kyouko ^^

Finally! Someone who understands. I feel Skip Beat is overrated, and doen't deserve all its hype. I'm getting annoyed at the cliches in Kyoko's character, I mean after 100+ chapters it just gets kinda stale. The romance is okay ~ I don't hate it that much. But the way that everyone worships this as a great shoujo just annoys me to no end. It started off good and somewhat atypical. But it's degenerating into the old shoujo cliches... and plus its taking way too long with its slow pacing.

I personally like the series, but it's getting annoying following its current direction.

Much as I love Skip Beat (and I do!) I have to agree with the general consensus that this last arc (the party) has dragged on way too much! But now that the party's over (let us all pray that it is indeed over) we can get back on track with the progression of Kyoko's career and her relationship with Ren (and Sho?) Yay!

That new girl does show promise of some interesting, new conflict for Kyoko but I don't want this new drama to end up like the Dark Moon arc because enough chapters were spent already on Kyoko working on a drama. I'm more interested to see Ren work on his new movie where he plays a bad guy. That might reveal some more about his dark past.

Personally, the slow romance isn't that big of a deal since the story is more about her getting revenge in show biz. I think because people like to pair up characters in shoujo that it feels like it's taking a while for Kyoko to get with someone. I'm just waiting for her to make her idol debut because I know she'll be fabulous =D

I agree with you. At the beginning, I was very much into the series, though after going on for so long, it seems to have lost a bit of its charm. In fact, I don't even feel like reading the new chapters anymore.

Yeah, so its long. maybe a little draggy, but that really allows much more room for character development and it makes the plot interesting. its not the same as in the beginning, things are progressing slowly just like in real life, and things have progressed between her and Ren. at the beginning they practically hated each other. If scan came out faster, it wouldnt seem so long.
