Have never and not interested at all. I even had an anime related streetfest where i used to live last year and i never wanted for my bus to arrive faster, as the location was part of my commute. Bleach and Inu Yasha coplay, shudder. I could have also gone for nearly free to the Gamescom for the last 3 years. It was only 45-60 min. away from where i lived too but i don´t need days worth of standing in line if i can stream all of the important bits for free.
It would be different if i was part of the press but animu conventions don´t have that aspect either.

Which brings me to another point. They are nearly meaningless to the health of the industry, despite getting "bigger and bigger" each year. Remember when Tron Legacy won the "prestigious" Hall H for 2 years in a row and then borderline flopped. Dito for Scott Pilgrim and you can buy all that plastic trash that is sold on the floors from Ebay too.
I 100% get the aspect of meeting fellow minded people but i never lack nerds in my life, i even attract them due to my clothing. (A young woman recognized my Behelit pendant recently!) The part of the art form i like is the bit that involves reading and watching and playing and then talking about what i experienced with people i know. And by talk i mean dictate my opinions... Conventions can´t give me that and the amount of my entrainment podcasts that cover them has given me enough second hand experience too almost have been to many of them.

As I don't really like crowd I never went to any manga/anime convention, though I have to say that it sure looks very interesting mmm...

I want to experience what it's all about to see if I like it or not. I dislike crowded trains and hate crowded buses, but aside from that I'm fine with crowded places. I guess I don't like crowded and really cramped places, but conventions shouldn't be that bad in that regard.

And it might be interesting/fun to watch all the people doing cosplay and doing weird things. But I feel like if I went alone it would be quite crappy, so I would go with a friend.

I've been to a couple / few in the past.......though honestly, it was more of a "wow... they're putting on an anime convention here??" kind of thing, which made me say "hell, I gotta go check this out just to see".

Yeah, they were pretty low-grade, but it was nice to see 'em trying and all

I went to one once as Team Four Star was there. However do to my OCD I had difficulty dealing with the crowds, and so without a similiar motivation I donot plan to go back to a con again.

Never been to because of lack of opportunity. But, would visit/attend if opportunity presents itself. Overall I can't care less.

Not that there'll ever be an anime/manga convention in my country anyway, but even if I happen to visit some place when/where there is one, I wouldn't go. Cosplaying is just awful and childish beyond belief, I have no interest in what the mangaka, voice actors, or what-have-you are like as long as their work itself is good, don't consume doujinshi or other fanworks, don't care about getting signatures or buying collectibles, never was invested in what the "fandom" is saying or doing... In short, there's nothing at all a convention can offer me, except stress and the waste of a good couple of days, not to mention money I could have used on actually buying manga.

While I don't agree with thinking cosplay is awful, I agree with the rest. Whether it's manga, movies, TV, or music, I generally don't really care about anything but the work itself. And I don't really feel the need to discuss and debate the work that I'm into. Just a couple weeks ago, I went to lunch with some co-workers who were interested in anime. I made the mistake of asking about an anime one person was into and that led into a painfully long and boring explanation of the series, including a scene-by-scene recap of the first episode. I had absolutely no interest in this series, but even if I was, why would I want to watch it now that you've basically spoiled the whole first season?? Anyways, I'm just not the kind of fan who needs to dissect every part a series, continuously talk about my favorite scenes, or discuss theories of where the story is going.

While I was in college, I went to anime/manga conventions pretty often. (About two or three times a year.) Now, I go about once every two years.

I enjoy small anime conventions a lot, but AX is always... a bit much. I enjoy Artist Alley, but trying to get into panels is such a headache. (AX really needs to work on their organization for lines and such. It's a mess every year I go.) I mainly go because I follow a lot of artists on social media, and I enjoy buying things like artbooks from them in person. It's also a good excuse to buy some actual merchandise, but I usually save those things for my Taiwan trips.

Just once, went with my siblings to a local one years ago. Not my thing, and I never want to do that ever again. Don't knock it 'til you try it...Or just don't try it at all, which is sometimes a better idea!

Twice a year. It's fun to go with friends and the concerts are great.

I go to about 3-4 a year. It's a great opportunity to meet up and hang out with my friends for the day while being the bunch of nerds we are.
