Itachi's story was really tragic... i guess he was the contact jiraiya had inside akatsuki. Even if Madara is telling the truth there are still some missing pieces in Itachi's story.

Thats true Tsuto, but since Itachi is dead, we will never know the full story, unless Madara has every bit of info, which i doubt, since Itachi prolly wouldn't of let him know everything.

I find it amusing that Sasuke looked like he was about to go partially insane in the last panel.

I guess this explains why Itachi decided to flee instead of fight the Konoha ninja he encountered, such as Jiraiya, Kakashi, etc. Though I find it interesting that if Itachi was so concerned with Sasuke's protection, why was Orochimaru allowed to get his hands on Sasuke? Not to mention the fact that Oro was also a target of Akatsuki, with Oro being a traitor and all. I also found it irresponsible of Konoha to entrust the elimination of the Uchiha clan in Itachi's hands without any kind of support from Konoha at all. Sure Itachi is good, but even he felt that he needed help, hence why he turned to Madara and went out of his way to obtain his respective mangekyou sharingan techniques.

In a way, Sasuke killed his own brother. So I think it's possible that he's skipped the 'kill your best friend' fase, and immediately has done the 'kill your brother' fase. That way, he's almost, if not, of equal strength as Madara concerning their Sharingan.
Sasuke is the main Uchiha, after all, so he's gotta be stronger than Madara somehow~

The chapter was awesome, but i was hoping for another big revelation this time and i guess i wasn't as surprised with this chapter as i was with the previous ones. I'm still wondering how itachi with the help of madara was able to kill the whole uchiha clan. I mean if the uchiha clan were really that easy to kill, then they shouldn't have even dreamt of rebeling against konoha.

Itachi was already the best uchiha clan member
He was a genius, got into anbu when he was 9 or something so he was already that strong.
Even madara in his current state is stronger then all uchiha's thats why itachi needed his help ;) so it was a quick dead for al uchiha's

Well, lots of things dont add up...y did itachi join akatsuki n simply not stay by himself, does that make akatsuki's motives seem pure...but this chapter though not surprising is something I want to believe in 
...I want to believe in a real good person here and that Itachi was one such person, however, wiping out a clan might not have been a good option, its a very cruel punishment...so unless Madara is leaving something out, Uchiha actually following this order thinking it would be better for his clan is still far fetched, not to mention that he did this almost single handedly...But I do believe Madara is telling the truth, the way its delivered doesnt seem to be a lie, I doubt, deceit is one thing u find very much in shonen mangas....esp when they create an atmosphere, this way mangas are pretty straight forward..

He didn't kill him, did he? And also probably to make Sasuke even more angry or something.
And why he joined Akatsuki, Madara perhaps? What I'm interested in now is how Madara and Pain met. Now that would be good.
And also noticed that Madara had a complete different hairstyle and mask in the flashback! 
He's definitely not Obito, I think. Kishi is just playing with us. >_>P.S.: Obito died even before the flashback in this chappie~

its cause he wanted him to get stronger and he probably knew that sasuke would probably be able to kill him..and pretty good chapter i liked it now im just wondering what madara is thinking what to do with sauske now

Did anyone else notice that this chapter didn't really bring anything new to the table? The previous few chapters explained it all but chapter 400 was little more than a summary. Even Sasuke's reaction is the same as the preceding chapters. I really like the plot line but this chapter in particular wasn't as good as the previous 2 or 3.
