Does anyone here like/know good instrumental music.
I find instrumental music to oftentimes be more telling than songs with conventional lyrics.

Definately Maynard Ferguson. Crazy trumpet player. In terms of jazz, there's also Ali Ryerson (a flutist).
And I love Claude Debussy.

Ever heard of a Spanish guitarist/banjoist named Paco Fernandez.... his recordings are hard to come by, but really good classical/eclectic banjo. His style is very 'Cafe Del Mar.
Omar Rodriguez Lopez (Mars Volta) has some very good sessions, but they're all bootlegs.
Every Jimmy Page (Led Zep) solo is a classic.
As for 'schooled' guitarists.... I rate Andy Timmons very highly. He tends to concentrate on melodies rather than creating fretboard diarrhea.
John Lee Hooker / George Benson....not full-on instrumentalists, but still godlike.
Stuart Matthewman (Sade's live guitarist) is an awesome jazz session specialist.
I'm sure you know Pat Metheny, rite.
Lastly, my old room mate, Brian.... went off to Berkeley.... no word from him after that. His fingers were disproportionately long....like some kinda alien. His style was very Vai.... Slept with his Telecaster. God bless him, wherever he may be.... the bastard!
That's all.
It's nice to know not everyone here likes bar chord bashing, whiney, nasal bands.

I don't know the names, but the people that made the music for the Resident Evil games, are quite good.
"Take Five" by Dave Brubeck is pure awesomeness.
And the instrumental version of "Kelas ~ Let's Dance" from the FMA movie is amazingly good.

My favorite is "River Flows in You" by Yiruma.
E.S. Posthumus is really good too, especially "Nara" and "Pompeii". (Although the latter has some voices.)
Oh, and I also love the songs "Explosive" and "Duel" by Bond.

I can play the chorus and melody, but I can't play the rhythm/comp for the bridge.
If you like that one, check out My Favorite Things by Coltrane

And Off Minor by Thelonious Monk

Ey man, The Charlie Brown Christmas Album is crack. Now that I think about it, most christmas songs have been made into some incredible instrumental tracks.
Besides that I'd have to go with anything from Grover Washington, Jr (Especially Soulful Strut, George Benson (Especially his song Breezin), and Herbie Hancock Group. These are some of my favorite artists, I usually listen to them when I study.
EDIT: Can't forget my man Carlos Santana.
