Why in most manga and anime girls are always looking for some kind of prince to sweep them away? is it the money the power from practically ruling a country, or the "elegance" that comes with being raised as a prince. or is it simply because women liked to be pampered, and a mansion/castle full of servants will get that done?

edit
**sorry n hates me same for title**

Even though I am sick of such stories and can thankfully say the new shoujos popping up have something different to offer but its the same way, harems are so popular- why do geeky guys seem to have hot/cute babes running after them and why do so many shounen heroines have overwhelmingly big boobs...??..and Gawrsh! when r brother complex sisters and lolicons gonna disappear?

I always assumed it was a childhood fantasy of fulfilling a fairytale combined with the idea of dating the high school quarterback who's got straight A's. I typically think prince = popular and that makes the gaging go away a little.

Because men write the story.

I'm more critical of the protagonists than the "ideal lover". The shoujo heroines are usually kind of dumb, pretty clumsy, and lack all but the most useless of talents, but sooo many still manage to nab themselves capable "princes". It makes sense to desire the guy who seems to have all the best traits, but the way the guy returns the feelings? I guess maybe the guys aren't much for conversation or something so they have to compensate by finding a girl who won't notice anyway.

Read moar josei if ur sick of the shojo stuff bigrazz. I guess it has something to do with how little girls want to be princesses and meet their "knights in shining armor"

@BimboSilly- big boob shonen heroines appeal to adolescent boys the most perverted age group bigrazz

This isn't unique to Japan or shoujo manga. Lots of American, Australian and English romance novels for adult women feature the hero as a member of royalty.
Don't really get the appeal myself, sounds like a lot of responsibilty.

Basically, most times a prince is usually viewed as a kind gentle person, that will sweep a woman off her feet with his great chivalry, saving her from anything whilst riding on a pure white horse.
