okay, so have you ever met someone, by accident, where they like the same manga/anime genre you do? or maybe like your favourite manga/anime is theirs too, you know?

Example.
I was waiting in my schools music room with my choir and this girl in the middle of the room pulls out Gravitation.
I promptly screamed and pointed, she realised what was going on and joined in with my squealing. Cue the Fangirlism and weird looks. so that's like my story.

Just a simple story of how you might have met someone who had the same interests as you, who loved it as much as you i guess...
ach i find this hard to explain... dead

I can see what you mean, but the people who I know that like anime, either only like the basics, or was introduced to it by me, or is way more otaku than I am. I so far have never met a person with very similar tastes as me (except the people i introduced that shit to).

That's exactly my situation...my brother makes fun of me because I'm such an otaku sad But I just can't help it, I love anime/manga. I'm totally hooked on it.

That's what life is. Random meetings, well, kinda random.
If your family makes fun of you that's because they're you're family so they don't have to share the same interests as you.
Basics mean they could still like the anime/manga that you like, especially if it turns mainstream.
As I just learned recently, it's quite possible for you to randomly meet someone that you knew ten years ago today. Seeing as how anime and manga are more numerous than the number of people you knew ten years ago, then it's likely someone around you likes the same manga as you do. They may be a little more discreet or quiet about it but they could like it too.
Favourite on the other hand, a little more implausible if it's an obscure manga but still plausible.

Pretty much the same scenerio as yours except replace 'Gravitation' with 'Ouran Koukou Host Club' and the squealing was one-sided...coming from me.

A guy yelled "Haruhiism" at me really loudly from across the street when I was wearing an SOS brigade shirt. There were odd stares from those nearby.

But other than that, it's mostly friends who were introduced to it by me or were already otaku by the time I knew them (that's what I get for taking Japanese classes at a community college).

lol the fangirl language... comprised of squealing and pointing?
i'm more along the lines of mr. serious bag up there. not much of a talker when i'm face to face with someone.

i've attracted more friends with the allure of my homemade korean food+bento box combo. D:

I don't really have any manga or anime liking friends.... actually I don't have friends, period.

Anyway, I was reading Mushishi at the lounge of my car service centre. A guy walked past, backtracked looked at me and said 'bloody excellent manga'. I smiled and that was it..... we were both guys, so I'm sure neither of us enjoyed the company of men.
