Mako-Scans are looking for a translator for the series Ai Kora (Love Collage). We want to pick it up because the current group doing it, Musashi Quality, has not released any chapters of it for a couple weeks. It's already finished and it's a great series.

We are also looking for a C-E translator for Silvery Crow. After chapter 17, we were only able to find chinese raws, so to be able to finish the series we'll need someone to translate.

If you are interested in either of these series, please pm me or contact us at makoscans@gmail.com. You can also get us in our irc channel #mako@irc.irchighway.net

They only stop for a couple of weeks, give them a break, no need to rush for it. Please don't try to steal other people's project because they stop it for a couple of weeks. You could also offer them help and communicate directly with them instead.

They just released a chapter 4 days ago. How is that "Musashi Quality, has not released any chapters of it for a couple weeks"? If you really want to help, why not offer a joint or help them out with the chapters instead of creating your own group to scanlate it yourself? I'm sure they'll appreciate the offer of help and release faster with your help.

If you want to do Ai Kora so bad, just join Musashi.

Come on, it isn't difficult...

And if you don't want to join, just find a series that isn't scanlated.

There are literally thousands of series without a single chapter scanlated, why do you have to pick up a series another group is already doing?

The raws for Ai Kora are already pretty hq, so it hardly needs any editing, musashi has lots of staff im sure that would be willing to do the minimal cleaning and typesetting that is needed, the only reason they release slow is probably the translators are busy with other series they have or just slow. That's why we are looking for a translator solely for ai kora so releases can come out faster. It'll hardly fix anything helping them edit/typeset if the script still isn't there.

You completely missed the point, not that we were actually expecting you to understand it...

Point? Everyone in this thread mentioned that we shouldn't "steal" their project but instead offer to help them, but the only help they need it faster translations.

A lot of people read ai kora including us, and at the pace musashi is going, most aren't satisfied, which we want to fix. There have been many groups that pick up a series because another was slower, this isn't any different.

I thought scanlation groups were doing this to release manga in english for people that can't read it in japanese, so if one group wants to do a series because another group isn't releasing at a satisfactory speed then that should be a good thing right? Unless you are in it for the fame/glory, I don't see the problem.

If we were too busy or understaffed to do one of our other projects efficiently, I would be happy if another group decided to pick it up. It just means either way the readers get what they want.

Hmm I don't think anyone is begrudging you from doing Ai Kora. They think it might be better if you at least talked with the other group first. Just because releases are slow does not mean it is the translator's fault. Some groups demand high quality releases and go through very nitpicky QC. If it has an extra letter, it's redone. If the typeset is 1 mm lower than usual, it's redone. Some want editors to edit the wording so well that it seems natural but yet retains the literal meaning of the translation.

From the lines of: "Appearing from time to time, the back of the boy whom I was looking for." to more of the line of "I was looking for the boy who've I've seen from time to time." Sometimes it's not easy to do. It's not just grammatical errors or spelling errors. I've read too many edits where the lines would be the original translation with only spelling and grammar edited but with the unnatural flow allowing the read through of the manga to seem disjointed.

Talk with them, you might find yourself so surprised that they have the next 10 chapters translated, but are taking a lot of care with the editing and typesetting. I know a lot of groups that are in that kind of position.
