Wow...so in the end nothing got resolved, karasuma still doesn't have his memories back and there's no solution to the eri x harima x yakumo thing.

Kinda lame yet kind of a school rumble thing to do, just a big pie throwing party at a church with people from the class.

Back at 281 I thought something good was going to happen, then came 282 and now this...well, another series done and gone!

If i analize it as "the ending of a series" it's one of the crappiest things i've ever seen. Nonetheless i won't complain since seems like the author made rush to end this but the magazine itself, but it's not the ending itself. Fortunately it seems the story will continue on a different magazine.

Indeed, School Rumble has been dragged way to long, but i way prefer some inushaya-ish school rumble as long as it has a good-conclusive ending, than a rushed crap, for example suppose this was the real ending? I'm sure many would want to lynch KOBAYASHI Jin.

WTF was with Tenma suddenly
Spoiler (highlight to view)
telling Harima she loves him? That just came completely out of nowhere, I'd have thought that it would show a close-up of Harima's shocked eyes and then end with a TBC

But anyway, needs a proper ending.

I really love School Rumble...

But that was the crappiest ending ever. Don't they have any respect for their own work?

...I demand closure from School Rumble...

This ending was a bit too disappointing for my liking... if we're lucky they'd make Season 3 of the anime or something...

It wasn't Tenma, it was one of the never rare Harima's delusions.

Didn't you read the little note at the second to last page? It's not ending really of the series, just a little -on hold-. It looks like the author was rushed to end it by the magazine. He plans to continue with a "School Rumble 2" manga, the first issue will be on 8/20.

I suggest reading it again. Notice Harima's thought bubble.....

Also, why all the anger towards the finale? The series is in now way over, with School Rumble Z (I wonder why the blatant DBZ rip-off....) coming out in less than a month. But honestly, I saw no distinct characteristics of a time-skip, since everything is the same, except with everyone in America. And wtf, Harima is engaged and now he's not. He's said his goodbyes to Tenma and here we are like it never happened. At least there's hope for a Yakumo X Harima pairing sometime soon.

Rarely do authors get to pick when to end their series.

It's the publishers that decide. If the series is a big hit, they won't allow the author to end it. If the readership goes down / not popular enough, it ends. The DBZ author wasn't allowed to end the series until they finally let him to "start something new".

It was probably the latter for School Rumble. Thus School Rumble Z, and why its in a different magazine.

Can't wait to see how it goes though. ^^

I'm hoping School Rumble Z fills in the time during the time skip first, or at least backtracks a bit just for added clarity. The sudden seemingly random jumps were almost completely incoherent.

If this wasn't being continued, this would be an absolutely terrible ending. As it is, it's just pretty bad.

dead How lame.

If he's continuing with this same story in School Rumble Z then I hope retcons the last two chapters out of existence. They destroyed all the long awaited progress that happened (or started to happen) recently. Even if they spend a volume or so filling in the timeskip, we still know that essentially nothing happens during that time since everythng is the same after the skip.

Meh, I don't know if even I'm gonna bother following Z to be honest. I just don't really care that much about it anymore. Not just because of this pseudo ending; I haven't been feeling it for a while now. I was actually sort of relieved it was ending.

If it wasn't for the fact that School Rumble Z appears to be a direct continuation of School Rumble, I would have flown to Japan and murdered to publishers. However, since there seems to be hope in the near future, I'll just sit back and wait (although I would like it if it was more than just 16 pages per month, at least that's what I heard). I can picture what happened.

1) The publishers came to KJ and told him that he would need to end the series soon.
2)He started working on the ending and presented us fans with a brilliant chapter (281).
3) The publishers tell KJ that he needs to end the manga now.
4) KJ decides that it is better to give no closure whatsoever at the end, even though he knows it would piss off some fans, because he knows he will continue it in SRZ.

I would like to see what happened during the time skip between 281 and 282, which was apparently years. It would be cool if SRZ starts off with what happened during the time skip, and then progresses to what happened after the wedding... if there was one eek .
