uhhhhhhhhhhh isnt the thread topic manwha vs mangaconfused?

and this discussion is pretty civil, we arent attacking people or flaming, just presenting opinions

keel's post is probably the "rudest" but that can barely be described as mean spirited....

arent a threads purpose to put forth one's opinion and receive other's opinion's in turn?

Haha, it really depends on some circumstances.
But hey, everyone has different taste on what they like to see/read.
I dont believed that all manwha are better than manga. It really depends ...Its almost like saying which toothpaste's brand is better when they all somewhat have the similar taste in 'em. laugh

I'd say they're the same. Since, it really just depends on the author of the manga/manwha to decide on what the characters will be like and how the plot will flow....o.o I'd doubt what "language" or "culture" it's from really makes a difference (other than settings, and customs unique to their own country)

Plus, manga=manwha=manhua

manga=慢画 by japanese
manwha=慢画 by korean
manhua=慢画 by chinese

One thing i noticed though, was that, manwha art styles tend to habe darker, thicker lines(a heavier style), while japanese manga has thinner ones. XD Nonetheless, love them all biggrin

For starters read Sanctuary. I doubt you will find anything on the same level in manhwa.

Fair warning.

If this doesn't get back on track to being a civil discussion, I will lock the topic and hand out some temp. bans.

If you can't understand someones difference of opinion, do not reply to this thread.

i was simply stating that it was a bit rash attacking a popular shonen but if i camew acroos rude i apologise but in my defense...this is a vs. thread

pssst whats the most popular/highest ranking/best money making manga/anime/manwha hell anything (not litterally anything but u get the point) series ever made yes its one piece and no amazingly enough it yet has done anything repetitive and thats just fact not opinion so if u choose to hate it after only seeing a few eps well ur lose thats fine i just felt it was necessary to clear up any misconceptions with that said again i completely respect ur opinion for liking manwha better that is ur opinion and thats fine just please dont be ingorrently closed minded and bash manga because u for w/e reason dont approve now when u come up with a valid reason after gaining some knowledge about the industry or just about people series hell ill accept anything im easy going like that hehe but dont call something cliche when its unique dont bash a series cause ur favorite char died dont decide a series is horrible because u dont understand it or cant keep up we cant all be intelectuals and work on our phd's but for those of us who r we might enjoy a twisted look into the human psyche or a story of how stupid and nonsensical we act when in love through manga all im trying to say is try to take everything in without bias and understand it before u bash it

btw manga's better haha...and no i can never end on a serrious note lol

From my experience good Manwahs are very good and easily contend with the best manga... but the bad ones are terrible, very clichéd, terrible plots and pretty shitty art.

Isnt that because their industry isnt quite solid like japs? and people have it harder to live with it so many of those Works are made by amateurs?.

But lets go with the cream of the crop theory, even if we compare the best japs Works with the "bests" from korea we see a big diference by example compare ID or Yureka to one piece, naruto and berserk, koreans stay truer to their ROOTs while keeping a good manga and an insteresting plot (not saying ID or Yureka are better than those 3 because they cant be measured in equal conditions nor they are in the same category).

Can't tell about the bad Works of koreans cuz i havent seen one. even the fairy tale of a demon lord which sucked in the drawings had a good feeling about it, but i see so many mangas that fail and are forced into either fight mangas, echiness or gags... that im starting to believe teres some kind of problema with the manga industry in japan and that will end up helping koreans with their version of comics.

I would prefer manga because, what I see in manhwa is the same thing as in what I see in K-drama. Which I get tired of quickly because it always follow a similar storyline....btw their names are hard to pronounce and memorize so I always forget who's who.
And since I don't watch J-drama, I would read the manga instead. smile

Not really, I still think manga is better compared to manwha (webtoon not included). Personally, I think you only ever found "good manwha" because the number of manwha scanlated are rather limited. Manga has higher average overall score.

It's probably because manhwa is less 'well-known' than manga, so the scanlators tend to pick up the cream of the crop.....

Same reason many people thought Cowboy Bebop and Trigun were the only animes of their time.

There's good and bad stuff in both manga and manhwa. UnbalanceX2 is awesome, though. (haven't read the other two you mentioned)

In my country, there are quite a lot of manwha that are translated & published, and most are horrible. It wasn't until the last one or two year that I found manwha that are worth reading, a.k.a immortal regis. The other? Read 2-3 chapter-drop pattern

It's just you. No, I'm kidding.

If we are talking about scanlated series, then it is simply appears that way because scanlators only pick up what is good and already a few chapters in. When it comes to manga however, scanlators are quick to pick up any and every series, even if it doesn't have much potential. I'm wondering what manga you're reading though, there are plenty of manga that are worth much more than reading

I suggest that you try to find something that is to your liking and defiantly try reading something new.

As for your comment about every manga being a yaoi, I fail to see the issue. Sure, there is abundance that are cliche for yaoi but people read them for the sex, not for the story. However, there are plenty of yaoi that are amazing or at least redeemable (and they are not hard to find.) If you just can't deal with romance only manga with a little subplot or featuring yakuza, school life, magic, etc. then I can see why you would dislike yaoi, but even then there are more than enough people that love them. Only because you don't like yaoi it doesn't automatically make all manwha better than all manga.

I only read manga. I don't like webcomics and the printed ones are all weird shoujo. Seriously, what's up with those clothes?

Nope. aagcnet created a new thread about it and was pointed here by someone else.

I wouldn't say that manhwa is better than manga. IMO, they are pretty much equal - some are great, some are terrible. There's just way less Korean series than there is Japanese ones, so it might not be that obvious.
A lot of manga gets really popular after they get an anime. Manhwas do not get anime adaptations, so there's less series and they're getting axed more frequently. Let's take Veritas as an example - it was really popular as a scanlation, but it didn't get enough sales in Korea and was not picked by the publishers for the 2nd part.
