People like Bishounen and bishounen sell, but I would also personally like to see a manga about an overwieght person! Or the main character be of an 'average' wieght plus a little. That might appeal to real life. Even the characters that are supposed to be plain and skinny. I wonder if such a manga would sell or not.
About Red River - I didn't by it for a long time, because when I opened the first volume I kept coming across the 'suggestive' scenes and thought that I didn't want to read something like that. But finally I did buy it and I am glad!
And what does the spiral on the end of a pointed finger mean? I see it in different genres.

Well this is only my interpretation of it... but I guess that it means that he got his finger so close that you could see the fingerprints? (actually fingerprints means the trace left on a surface by the fingers, so the traces on the fingertip should be called something else right?)
Oh.. and by the way, Love your new avi... cats shall rule MU!!

WOW, guys get attacked in seinen?! eek I guess it's seinen so... Wow, guys screwing each other to revenge... >_> *makes a bit of a mental note to find maybe which of those are in Stealth's list and then avoid them... ^^;*
yes it happens in some manga... but I'm wondering are you thinking that he gets his revenge by r@ping the other guy back? Euh... no... he kills him... in a horrible fashion, but strangely satisfying for the reader. And the main character is usually not the one that gets r*ped, but his wife, sister, lover etc... and he still gets revenge...
euh... yeah, hentai has that to... but hentai is clearly labeled for older audience... while shoujo, isn't.

I don't know ... I get the impression it means something, conveying a feeling or thought, you know, like a thumbs-up gesture means Good Job. Or when a character's facial features get morphed into a cat's that indicates mischievousness.
I need to find a pick I can link too ...

was reading maison ikkoku and it occured to me....there are always situations between the hero/heroine and the rival that are somehow miraculously witnessed and misunderstood by the other hero/heroine...
has one of these misunderstood situations ever actually happened to someone (maybe youre gf/bf catches you in a compromising situation with an ex?? dunno...)

Here are some that irritate me:
Clumsy heroine who can't walk without tripping & falling on the hero, totally by accident of course, only to trip & fall again a few pages later, etc. If you can't WALK in high heels, don't wear the stupid things!!
People getting deathly ill hours after getting wet in the rain. Unless the germs in Japan are wildly different than those in the US, it's a rare coincidence for this to happen. (>_<)
Girls who are so horrible at cooking that they can't even boil water without making it taste bad. Cooking just isn't that difficult - yeah, if you try the fancy stuff it can get tricky, but basic cooking is not (as the saying goes) rocket science.

The most common one is probably....the girl goes after this popular guy and the guy ignores her until he realizes she is his true love. Or a popular guy falls in love with a nerdy girl.....

UGH ! I hate that too!
Those WEAK chicks that can't do anything, including walking, eating, or even breathing alone. They should have some dignity
I love girls who are tough. Those chicks are my jars of jam in the morning.
I also hate the main heroine getting cornered by the love interest's fan club. -__-
Yeah, girls do that, but can you not include it? it's over-used so much that it shouldn't even be an idea anymore.

Evan if i don't read that much shojo i can still think of a cliche that kinda gets to me:
a bunch of ppl go to the beach & through some turn of events (i.e. falling asleep on a boat) end up on a so called "deserted island" that just happens to be in like 5 min walking distance from their point of origin, but they don't realize this until the other members of the group come for them

the first kiss thing the heroine is forcefully kissed by the guy, and she's like "give me back my first kiss"

you are so cool doesn't have a love triangle just a little but that's insignificant compared to other shoujo.

Aww, you don't like that? I mean, it's pretty common, but I still enjoy reading about it. It's a wonder how fragile memory is...

what do you call the place wherein students change shoes before entering their classrooms? they have these shoebox cabinets assigned to them..
The shoujo mangas I have read recently have a lot of scenes in these places. Before, what was popular was the rooftop with the wind thingy blowing the hair and skirt of the heroine.
anyway, why is it that conversations..important ones at that and private too, always get to be overheard by an important character(usually a party of the love triangle) behind the shelf?
Oh, what about the heroine falling while looking for a book in the library. Guess who catches her?
