You are like the dense main character in a shoujo manga.

And you will murder someone one day, pika. If you're my daughter.
Well, using the terms the OP is using, surely it's unlikely. But more or less a person that matches your interests isn't that impossible, even if the chances to meet are insanely low. 🤣

Love develops over time, only when you come to respect and trust the other person, there is no such thing as love at first sight and the feeling that you will see them again or feel drawn to them, that is infatuation, not love.
The reason we may think someone is our destined person is because you and your "sole mate" have the same interests, because you have the same interests you will probably go to the same events or places. An example of this is... I'm vegan, I could meet a guy at the vegan shop, but he is there because he is vegan, not because of destiny. Also, you meet people who live in the same area as you, who you go to work with, go to the same shops as, get invited to the same parties as or go to the same university as you in a similar course. We don't see random people on the street and, without even talking to them know that they are your sole mate, that is only seen in shoujo manga designed for lonely girls who currently don't have a hope of getting a boyfriend.
We work in the dark, we do what we can, we give what we have, out doubt is our passion and our passion is our task, the rest is the madness of art. Henry james

The book Cupcake by Rachel Cohn sort of changed the way I think about soul mates and one true loves. The author played around with the idea that everyone has a one true love and everyone has a soul mate, and sometimes your one true love is not your soul mate (and vice versa). I think a soul mate is someone who fits with your personality wise, they understand you and you understand them. Whereas I want to believe that a one true love is someone who brings out the best in you, someone you can't see yourself without. As far as soul mates go, I think I've found mine, but I'm definitely not in love with her or anything like that.

I believe that there is no single person in the world who you are "destined" to be with. When people love, they are looking for their other half - literally. You love someone who you admire or know extremely well, who has the qualities that you lack or desire. As you hang out with someone, you learn more about them and the qualities they posess. You admire them and want to stay together with them - both to learn even more and to share the qualities that each of you lacks with the other.
Even with "love at first sight", is it about admiring someone's qualities. Their physical features or personality appeal to your sense of "beauty", and so you want to learn more about them, thus falling in love.
Going back to the topic of "soul mates", I believe that a soul mate is simply someone who is the most compatable with you, and has everything that you admire. For this reason, a person can have a single soul mate, more than one, or even none at all. In the end, it all comes down to how someone appeals to you in the way they think, look, and act.

I was just wondering if people still believe in soul mates. That there is one person you are destined to be with. Once you meet them, you will fall in love and stay in love with that person for the rest of your life..
I think I do believe in soul mates, but my definition of soul mates is kind of different. Like, no one can ever know how many people are out there, whether one or many, that you could be destined to be with, but because you meet this one person, they turn out to be "the one" and therefore there will never be anyone else.
I also don't think you must fall in love once you meet them- maybe you hate them, or are not attracted to them, or either you or that person is together with someone else. But time and time again you are brought together with that person, and one day find that you could never live without them, and they for you, and that you are the most compatible together because you are deeply connected. 😀 There's a red string of fate...

Nope but then again I don't believe in love and I won't until I've felt it for myself. If other people wanna believe it then fine and dandy.
Lol my thoughts exactly. I have never been in a relationship, let alone experiencing love and the like so it's hard to say but for now, I don't believe in soul mates.

Maybe... but not really. I think it's a bunch of Hollywood and romance novel-propped b.s. to make more $$$ in their eyes. But, I do believe that some people do find that perfect match, both chemically and physically, out there, somewhere.
I highly doubt that I'll find somebody perfectly compatible enough for me to fit the "soul mate" profile in my lifetime. Life's just too complicated and complex as it is to find someone that perfect enough anyways. Never the easy route on anything.
