The Anime Start/End Chapter Box is systematically losing info about older adaptations
The problem I bring up is a 2023 issue and I know for a fact that the box has a wider use even outside of the site as I saw my own edits being quoted in Reddit questions into how much which adaptation adapted and where original endings start. Spriggan was such a case when the Netflix reboot launched. This site is a primary source for all sorts of people. That in itself is a problem of course. Feels nice to be needed though 🙂 .
Newer adaptations don´t "replace" older adaptations. The creation of Lost Media is bad for everyone and ignoring the past is step one here. MU is a sort of wiki that tries to present the listed works as completely as possible even if info about anime is an afterthought. Let's bring up an example. There are tons of people who consider the original FMA anime to be better than Brotherhood and Bones clearly expected people to have seen it or the first dozen+ eps wouldn´t have been the cliff notes mess they are in Brotherhood. This site had exact info into FMA 2003 since the 00s. That info lasted a decade and a half at least but all that suddenly went away recently. Along with dozens of such cases as I now begin to see. All in 2023 as my trips with the Wayback Machine proved: https://archive.org/
All cases listed below had info about older adaptations as late as 2022 and then poof, gone. Imagine telling a fan of Initial D (messed with) and Berserk (left alone) that only the newer summary movies now "matter". They would laugh you out of the room! I am just an editor so I kicked it up to the top but more than just an admin or two will be needed. Who else noticed this and where? Those manga need to have that info restored after all. The Wayback Machine is our friend and will solve most of these new omissions with just one URL check and copy + paste.
Admins can also see who edited the boxes. If a causation can be found there then the problem stops if there is a clear group of culprits. Or so one hopes.
Bastard!!
Captain Tsubasa
Dragon Quest - Dai no Daibouken
Dragon Ball Chou Specifically how it relates to the anime
Fruits Basket
Hagane no Renkinjutsushi
Hokuto no Ken
Hellsing
Hunter x Hunter
Shaman King
Yu-Gi-Oh
Edit: The replacement edits that overwrote the work of others and me were in many cases lazy AF and sometimes even wrong. I refuse to believe that the editor is familiar with most of the shows. Info into where each season stops also keeps "going away". Boku no Hero Academia, Hajime no Ippo or Shingeki no Kyojin had that for example.
lambchopsil dm-ed me that a single person is the problem so we "only" need to list manga here and things can go back to how they were. Let´s do this community. YOU are needed. Who knows how long this will take.

I have to break the no double posting for a week rule as this is about a site function.
Old adaptation info, seasonal info and missing content/abridgment info were all equally in danger in the end. I simply noticed the missing older shows first before it became clear what an epidemic this was. I then decided that I hate myself and went into our adapted to anime tag: https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?category=Adapted%20to%20Anime
29 pages of fun + listicles into remakes and longest anime were my reward and this was a once-in-a-lifetime odyssey. Whoever scrubbed all that info away in 2023 did a real number. Wiki vandalism at its finest.
TWBM only features saved sites from 2022 onward and not all entries I needed to check were saved. But most and there was luckily a method to the mass deletions. Tons of googling and hand-checking was still needed but I added tons of new (anime) info and cleaned up entries from top to bottom while at it. Yozakura Shijuusou is such an example. The reddit Excel post I sourced may one day go away and wasn´t easy to find but my save of it may last forever. Or however long this site is around. Like I said. A once in a lifetime effort by me.
My many restorative edits wouldn´t have been possible if I noticed this half a year later as WTBM apparently overwrites older years. MU is the only one-stop shop for such info. The forum posts and so on I used as help won´t last. The anime box is a MUCH more popular function than some may believe, this site´s reach is much greater than people believe and the community settling on bad info being the norm will lead to future editors never bothering. Is that acceptable for the health of a database? Help to drive traffic to the site, not from it.
If YOU notice a similar issue with (anime) info going away on mass then report it. Admins can undo edits but also need to know of the issue first. Feel free to check entries for multi-season manga or multi adaptations manga. No way I saved them all. Now is the time! Half a year or so is left for https://web.archive.org/ to be useful for this problem. The hack job entries will overwrite the good editors did on TWBM soon enough before the new ones overwrite them.

And the mass deletion for both older adaptations and season breakdowns began anew. Report through the User CP the moment you notice something or kiss the Anime Start/End Chapter box goodbye as I can´t and won´t fix this all. 1/3 of the anime listed in the OP was affected together with a few major Jump manga.
MU is the only easy-to-find source for such info. Sometimes the ONLY one. The loss of information here isn´t minor.
