YES! This happened twice, it scared the crap out of me. The first time, I thought I was having a dream and the devil or something was with me. I was so desperate to move that I started to bawl, but somewhere in the middle, my body finally snapped out of it.

Yeah. When extremely stressed or ill. Generally just when ill, but sometimes after watching extremely creepy movies, or when we found out we had an infestation of poisonous spiders, I kept waking up at the slightest noise (half-asleep, unable to move, where you're still having images from the dreams, but you feel your actual body.)

I've had it a few times, randomly as far as I can tell. Didn't last very long, but definitely a horrid feeling!

A couple of people have mentioned waking up & having a body part be completely numb - that's a totally different thing, but unpleasant in its own way (esp. if you don't realize your entire leg is asleep until you've already leaped out of bed & tried to walk on it, only to end up flat on the floor...ouch...).

I've never had it, and I hope I don't. Sounds painful.

When i was little i used to wake up in the middle of the night and i wouldn't know what i was doing but like looking at the clock made me scared, panic and confused almost like i was hypnotized. it was like i couldn't control what i was doing untill i calm down a bit. I dont know how to explain it but i was captivated by the clock on somtimes i had the urge to walk up and down the stairs and i wouldnt know why. this hasnt happened in a long time but is this sleep paralysis?

Happens to me alot. x.x Most of the time I'm asleep, I think, but I'm completely aware of what's going on around me. And not to long ago in my dream I was watching myself struggling to wake up and I felt like someone was holding me down trying to cover my eyes. I could feel myself moving in real life though, creepy feeling. :/

I have it almost every time I dream, and I don't dream that often.
(I dream about 1-3 times every 2 weeks.)

It happens most frequently when I'm having a nightmare, and then I attempt to wake up from it. But only my mind was able to wake up, not my body.

90% of the time, I'm mentally awake, sometimes with my eyes opened (fixed onto some object in my room), other times closed, and I hear a noise that rings in my ears and then it gradually fades away.

There are some cases where it's painful, like my entire body is being stabbed by needles. Or I actually stop breathing. Other times, I'm filled with fear. o___o

But either way, I've learned to cope with it by mentally telling myself right when I get into that weird paralyzed state, that I'm safe in my room, and it's only sleep paralysis and nothing else.. (paranormal.) So it's kinda like brainwashing myself. XD

Quote from tactics

I've never had a situation where my whole body can't move, but I've definitely had situations where I can't move my leg and have to pick it up with my hands to swivel out of bed to stand on it so I can start to feel it again (my god does it hurt though),.

This. I woke up once and couldn't feel or move my right leg, I was so terrified that I screamed for my mother and just started crying until I could move it again. O_O It hurt so much...;__;

And nope, never had sleep paralysis, and reading these posts makes me wish I never experience that. O_O

No. But almost every time I wake up the reality I see mixes up with a dream so I don't really get what's going on. Luckily I don't talk.
