Do you have sleep paralysis?

Yes. I have it frequently because I stay up till very late or I'm really tired after a few days of intense studying and when I get in bed I sometimes fall asleep with my eyes open.
First time it happened I fell asleep facing my room and I started to see how the ceiling lamp was moving towards me like a snake and the whole room kept distorting, the walls were wavering. I was so scared because I couldn't move but I managed to bite my tongue and woke up.
Some other time I fell asleep while my mother was in my room and I was trying to scream at her to wake me up but of course I couldn't open my mouth to say anything. I kept feeling that something was standing on top of me saying "You'll never get up.". I finally managed to move my leg and hit the wood board of my bed so I woke up this time again. But it's damn tiring to keep forcing my muscles to move.
I hate sleep paralysis because it happens in an environment that I know very well so it feels very real. Unlike nightmares which often occur in places I have never been before.
I knew that in folklore sleep paralysis is regarded as being visited by a demon/incubus who sits on your chest so while I had that experience with the thing sitting on me I was really freaked out.

Yeah, I always got the suffocation feeling as well, like that moment when you first wake up, and you are trying to gasp but can't really get in any air, can be frightening. I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one who experienced that. 😐
But it hasn't happened to me in years. My biggest sleeping problems now a-days are insomnia and snoring.

Yeah I've had it once I think. I was extremely exhausted and extremely sleepy. As I was laying there on my bed I started to hear things like big explosions etc and my mind was playing tricks with me and I couldn't move my body at all. It was scary as shit!

I hear you say "Why?" Always "Why?" You see things; and you say "Why?" But I dream things that never were; and I say "Why not?"

Wow... I heard of this condition, but never realized how scary it is or how painful... I don't even like Halloween because it can be scary and people in a death costume freak me out... So I hope I never experience it. EVER

I had sleep paralysis (almost every night) last year in eighth grade. I had too many things I had to do so I always slept late and was tired all the time.
It's so scary because I can't move no matter how hard I try; I can't even open my eyes. Then my mind starts playing tricks on me. It's like a nightmare. 🤢 😲
Now, I rarely get sleep paralysis. I never want to experience it again. 😔

Sleep paralysis is when you wake up during REM sleep because your body is paralyzed during REM. That's why some people experience dreams at the same time. For people who deprive themselves of sleep, if you lack REM sleep your body tries to increase the amount of time you spend in REM the next night. Because you spend more time in REM, you're more likely to wake up during it. I remember I was so scared when I had my first one, but it's nothing really bad... just waking up at the wrong time. 😲

Yeah, I have. Fairly regularly honestly. It used to bother me. I kinda thought it was normal.

I remember my mom told me that and when it happened to me I freaked out and slept in my parents room. I was paranoid as fuck when I woke up to get ready to go to school. xD

Did you know that if you talk or walk in your sleep you usually aren't dreaming? Because when you dream you're paralyzed! Sometimes you can break out though, which is usually when sleep paralysis occurs.
It's happened to me a couple times but it's not that big of a deal to me. I know what it is so I don't worry.

This isn't always true. Usually, you can't 'catch up' on your sleep; it works in cycles. There are so many other factors that come into sleep, even short term, that I really don't want to go into all of it.
I used to get sleep paralysis quite a bit as a girl, to the point that I just got used to it. Still one of the most horrible feelings in the world, however.
Yeah, I've had it happen occasionally, starting from 4 years ago. But usually, I kind of forget what happens, aside from the suffocation feeling. Hasn't happened to me in quite some time though.
