We haven't had an AMV poll in about 4 years, so as kuroihikari wants, why not? 4 years ago, I used to watch a lot more AMVs, but I don't think I've watched one in several years (partly because I don't watch anime anymore).

I didn't realize a gender question would be so polarized...sigh... So apparently more males voted in this poll, but at least 1 previous poll had more females. Most be that missing "other". Although it does appear that males tend to assume males, but females are more likely to not assume anything.

The only AMVs I watch are the AMV hells, which comes out what, like once every 2 years or so?

I used to watch them and make them. but not anymore. Didn't even know that was still a thing.

Seems like there's been a shift in their popularity, because they were really popular back when the Big 3 were at the peak of their popularity.

Yeah, I used to watch them years back. I'm not quite as into anime these last few years.

The great majority of AMV are awful anyways. It's like sorting through fanfiction. So much junk with little to no payout.

I agree with both these sentiments. I occasionally watch the ones people link, most of which are bad. I don't even want to imagine how deep the hole goes.

I watch the song videos in my favorite anime. Don't particularly go looking for any.

Almost never as I tend to find most of them just terrible. The only ones I watch are the comedy winners at AMV contests/Closing Ceremonies at anime conventions. Those are always hilarious and really we'll-made.

Pretty sure those are not AMVs (as they are all fanmade), the ones in anime episodes are just the Openings (OP) and Ending (ED) credits.

I always hated AMVs, most of them back then usually had awful music and it made it truly difficult to watch, sometimes it wasn't even worth it. I remember back then, you couldn't find an AMV without the songs "In the end", "bring me back to life" or some other Linkin Park or Evanescence song.

I made a couple back in the day, mostly out of boredom, but also because most of them had awful music. So I made some using death metal songs, that I like.

I used to make some years ago, but I still watch them on YouTube every now and then. Some are really bad but others are really good. One I really like is the Soul Eater AMV for This is Halloween. Just search "this is halloween amv" in youtube and its the first video.

Too hard to sift through the garbage to find decent ones.

You've basically got the people who just take their favourite song and slap it on their favourite series and think that's cool.

And then you've got the ones that try and make it a quality creation with good syncing and appropriate songs.
