My real name is Cassandra:
Gender: Feminine

Usage: English, Greek Mythology (Latinized)

Pronounced: ka-SAN-dra (English) Key
From the Greek Κασσανδρα (Kassandra), which possibly meant "shining upon man", derived from κεκασμαι (kekasmai) "to shine" and ανηρ (aner) "man" (genitive ανδρος). In Greek myth Cassandra was a Trojan princess, the daughter of Priam and Hecuba. She was given the gift of prophecy by Apollo, but when she spurned his advances he cursed her so nobody would believe her prophecies.

I looked this up about two months ago at work, except the website I was on said "enchantress of men" or something like that. It became terrible teasing material for my coworkers (especially the ones that had asked me out x.x). Pretty funny, though.

And to answer ShatteredSoul's q from my intro thread, Kasia is Polish for Cassie, my nickname. My grandmother is Polish (I'm half), so that's why she calls me that. It's pronounced Kah-sha. If you spell it with an h (Kasha) it's a Polish rice/grain... But the name is spelled with an i and just means Cassie or Cassandra.

I can't remember, but I know Akasha is also a Hindu concept. Oh, and Akasha was also the name of the Vampire Queen in Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles.

In terms of Hinduism, Akasha is Aether/Ether, which was a mystical element (in Western society, it occupied anything outside the terrestrial sphere) that was used to create the other 4 elements.

Very good, cheesestix, I'm impressed. Maybe we should move this to the Mythology thread before we get this one locked, though...

Anyway, my name is Persian for sun.

Ooooooh, that's so cool! Right now Kasia is just my pen name, but I wonder if I should use it for other stuff, too...? Hehe... And Shattered, Persian is your nickname? That's cool too!

No, I meant my name, real name, has Persian origins. But it also has Japanese origins... 😀
