Just read chapter 9 and I'm really confused with the family connections. It said Amane-nee was Riku's aunt. And this would mean Shizuru would be the mother? I'm guessing she's his foster mother? As it said in one of the flashbacks that his real mom died and they planted that tree.

Keep reading. This is one of the suspense the author intentionally leaves. It is explained in later chapters.
