Question this time is basically:
What makes a good manga?
There can be a lot of debate over this one...Just look at Naruto/Bleach/One Piece. A ton of you guys hate the series, but then why is it just so popular? Bandwagon approach?

Plot is the most important thing, hands down. I would never read or watch something like School Days if it wasn't for the plot.
As far as the N/B/OP argument, I would say that half of it is bandwagon and half of it is quality of characters and plot. Out of those three, Bleach has the strongest plot.

I voted for characters, plot is a given. To make a good plot you need a good character.
I think popularity can be good and can be bad, in certain cases it´s a result of the manga being good and so it´s a recognition, and it can ruin the manga too by the result of the manga being too commercial (quality drops).
Anyway, popularity helps to make our side to grow bigger 😃
About One Piece/Naruto/Bleach, i think they were great at the beggining and once they got popular they got rusty (not as great as they used to be).

I voted plot, although characters are also very important. You can have amazing character development but without a decent plot (well, assuming it's not something like Minami-ke) it will quickly go nowhere. I suppose the most important thing changes depending upon the genre. Action, for example, might largely rely on the art without the plot being particularly important in comparison to a mystery or thriller.
I don't think many people are going to openly admit to themselves that they only read certain manga because it's popular/their friends like it. I'm sure there are a reasonable number of people that do, but most people don't like to think of themselves like that.

I love Minami Ke and Lucky Star, and they have no plot at all. Those are few and far between though

Honestly I can't choose. Each manga has its areas where when one item is more important than the other. That doesn't mean that it can drop the ball in one area though.

Characters. Personal growth and relationship with other people. While i'd rate plot as second (originality is becoming scarce these days, so it can't be much of a factor if you want to read manga in general) , poor characters can make the plot weak. Claymore would have been good with one less whiny character in it. Ichigo 100% fans would have more respect for Manaka if he had cahones. Without characters, you wouldn't have the necessary tools in place to continue any plot. Unless watching scenary is your idea of making a manga 🙂

Plot is what makes it, imo, cause characters and art are important, but if its not a good plot, then its not worth the paper is printed on.

Characters. The plot can be totally crappy, but the manga could still be good if the characters r interesting.

Characters for me. Even if the plot isn't that great, the art is nothing special, and it's not particularly original, as long as I enjoy the characters, I'll keep reading.
Popularity might get me to try a series, just to see what all the fuss is about, but I don't continue to read anything just because of popularity.

Art , I cant really enjoy a manga that looks like crap, no matter how good the characters or the plot

Gizdiću, ne čitaj mi postove, degenu jedan!!
Characters for me...they're what makes the manga interesting.
Plot, even if the plot is good if it's just recycled plot I've read again and again I don't see how it can be good anymore...
Originality, Even if it's original if the plot is crap then it's also not worth mentioning.
Art, I read Love Roma and The Devil Ororon so art isn't an issue
Popularity has nothing to do with the manga, just the people who read it...I have my own tastes so what others like doesn't necessarily mean I would like it...

Characters for me 😛 , however art is very close too. If a manga has great plot, amazing artwork but cardboard characters then you're obviously going to get bored from the first few chapters.
