I know this manga won't focus on romance...anyway which pairing do you prefer?

The snow girl, of course. She's able to appreciate both aspects of Rikuo's personality. Childhood friend seems kind of cruel when she crushes on Nurari-Hyon form (I don't know if things have changed since I last read, though)

Would be interesting to see him end up with the miko, though I don't mind the Yuki Onna too. I get the D.N.Angel feeling when reading about the Childhood friend.

In all honesty Id think Rikuo would be good with Kubinashi, now first don't go all "omg yaoi!" on me, its not yaoi..... A lot of people tend to forget that Kubinashi is actually a girl that's dressed up as a guy

Kubinashi is almost always there when Rikuo needs it, has even saved his life on several occasions, even going so far as to be his body double, that takes alot of dedication for someone to do that for, and quite honestly I don't think you would do that for someone unless you care so much about them as to either a. see them as a family member, b. Have so much admiration for them like Yuki Onna seems to give off or, c. love them, and I like to keep my mind on the romance side of things, lol

Not only that Kubinashi has this aura around her that just screams "I'm a good housewife type person", I mean most of the time you see Kubinashi doing chores around the house and even helping Rikuo when he's sick, sure Yuki Onna tries to help too....but keyword on tries, Yuki Onna tends to over exaggerate things.....and speaking of Yuki Onna...

Yuki Onna... to me seems more like those bit characters in most manga's that admire the main character to the point of worship, so I cant exactly see Rikuo with Yuki Onna, sure shes loyal and probably would make a good lover for him...but shes too....worshipy I don't know its hard to explain...I just think it wouldn't work out, she's to 'clingy' shiver

Now on to Kana, Kana also would make a good one too....but shes....oblivious...and its also obvious she likes his youkai half better then his human half and her getting with him would be just a bit too cliche specially with that whole "girl next door"/"Childhood Best Friend" thing.... that pairing has been done waaaay to often in manga....

And now to Yura, I don't really have anything to say about this pairing, I one understand how people would love to see this pairing, it has the "forbidden love" basic set to it, but thing is though, Yura has yet to show any romantic interest in Rikuo and visa verse for that matter, right now its just on the friendship base and whether that gets any farther depends on the mangaka her/himself

Now don't get me wrong I'm not trying to force this pairing on anyone its my own choice who I think would be good for him and Im just explaining my views to everyone and why by explaining why I think the other girls wouldn't be as good.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens though lol I get the feeling this manga will last for a long time at least to the point to where they go thru Rikuo's teenage stage and maybe then we'll see something interesting, hell they are still 12-13 lol 😉

in reply to KitsunePan, kubinashi is a guy. that line was translated poorly. it was refering to his feminine looks. as proof that kubinashi is a guy,in the chapter where kubinashi and rikuo switch the girl who hands kubinashi the mic starts blushing bcuz she is slightly attracted to him. and the reason he was rikuo's double, is becase they look alike, anyone is his hyakki yakou would have done that. but i do agree with you. were kubinashi a girl, they would be a good pair.

For me, I'd like to see a romance between Rikuo and the omniyoji (SP?!?!?!) girl.

Practically speaking, it has to be someone who is a youkai since Rikuo is 1/4 youkai and if he were to end up with a human, his descendants would be only 1/8 youkai! IF that person managed to be able to transform into a youkai at all, it would only be for 1/8 of the day, which is 3 hours, which is pretty worthless if you're going to be a youkai leader.

For this reason, Yuki Onna is the only practical choice. Personally, I also like her the best of all 3 females.

Kana is totally uninteresting: she's just some random girl that Rikuo grew up with. And? Yuki Onna has cool youkai powers, Yura is an exorcist. Kana doesn't have to be a fighter, but she has to be something more than just cookie-cutter female childhood friend, which is all she is at the moment. Also, she switched from her crush on Rikuo to night-Rikuo way too quickly.

I like Yura, but they've already done the exorcist x youkai storyline with Rikuo's grandpa. (Additionally, because of this, Yura is now sort of related to Rikuo, which is kind of gross.)

Yuki Onna is a great character in general: she's funny, powerful, and makes a good team with Rikuo. Also, she seems to understand him well. Sure she fangirls him, but she also can also get serious with him and yell at him when need be. It's not all fangirling or annoying tsunadere smackdowns.

Actually, if you look back at the story, Rikuo's grandmother has healing abilities...she is not actually an exorcist of any kind (the man guarding her may be related to Yura, though). Also, even if she was somehow related to Yura, that was 400 years ago. I do not think that that is actually counted as being related in any way.

I say that Rikuo should go with Yuki Onna. However, I do think that the night Rikuo seems a little attached to Yura, though.
