First, let me explain - I know that people interact with each other all the time and this way they change each other's lives. When you're reading this, I'm changing your life - instead of reading this topic you could do something else.
But my question is: have you ever had a feeling that if it wasn't for your actions (or just presence) somebody's life would be completely different and you could predict how it would look like? That because of you someone's life took a different turn, either for better or worse?
Some extreme example: saving somebody's life. If you prevent somebody from being hit by a car, you influence this person's life hugely - you save her/him from becoming a cripple or dying.

I think I can say that I changed somebody's life for sure - my friend's. Before I made friends with her she was a bit like a delinquent, but one day she saw that I was reading a book and for some reason became interested in it. I lent it to her, she liked it, and as she read more and more her eyes opened, she started getting better grades etc. She's going to study in a college now and I really hope that I made her life just a bit better.

Yeah. I changed both of my friends lives :I I made them into negative douche bags. And now they hate me. It's because I did some really horrible stuff now we aren't friends and they just drifted apart...

And I got my other friend hooked on drugs she's stopping now though.

I tend to have a negative affect on people's lives 😐

i made some friend manga addicted (they are not on my level though)
when i was in hospital because of my diabetes i helped a girl to overcome her anorexia. I listened to everything that made her desperate and encouraged her.
I made my mom a nervless wreck when i nearly died because aud my diabetes.
I saved the life of a cat (does that count?)

We all impact people's lives. There is no exception. Even if you are a lonely homeless person sitting on the streets, you can change lives just by standing there, for people to see.

Did you read the topic, or just the title?

Can't really speak of changing.
There is no default future that would happen
if you were not to affect it.

We do not change lives.

We create lives.

Yeah, I have - fostering & adopting my youngest son. I would certainly hope that if I wasn't around, he would be in another loving family, but it wouldn't be the same family he has now. 😁

woah.. that's some deep words there..(I agree btw)
Not sure if I really changed someones lives or not..
I do know that I make some people worry about me.. because I'm not very good with ...?...uhh what I mean is that I choke on air ,trip over nothing, bleed for no apparent reason, run into walls, fall walking up the stairs, forget to breathe, and the list goes on... so I guess I'm very very accident prone..
oh, I did change my younger brothers life...I would pick fights with (as a kid) him because I didn't want him to become a sissy/get jumped on and lose/get hurt and now all my hard work payed off cause he now knows how to fight 🤣 ..not a very good thing but ya know it useful(?)..oh, and warded off some bullies that picked one my bro when he was younger...I just gave them one of my death glares and they never came near him again. So I glare and protect him if someone bothers him the wrong way. it's not much changing ones life but...yeah..

@ 0sirt "We do not change lives.

We create lives." is probably a double meaning..I don't think mamsmilk is trying to say that "we create life" = reproduction right now. I'm pretty sure he's sayin that our are actions affect a persons future thus creating a different future(path) for them to take = creating a 'life'/path for them.. (argh- I can't explain it...maybe he really did mean reproduction or something and I'm just reading into when I shouldn't have)

I hear you say "Why?" Always "Why?" You see things; and you say "Why?" But I dream things that never were; and I say "Why not?"

Can't really speak of changing. -> because whatever happens, happens
There is no default future that would happen -> there is only one future
if you were not to affect it. -> you can't 'affect' the future, since your actions are already taken into account

We do not change lives. ->we never did

We create lives. ->reproduction, basically

That's what I think anyway...

Aw, that's so awesome! I really want to adopt in the future. :]

Anyway, nope, I don't think I've changed anyone's life... well, maybe indirectly, since I lost my job and maybe someone new was hired to replace me... >___>;;

I do not speak of reproduction.
Neither do I speak of a cynical insight of causality.
I do not speak of life as a final product of
conception, but as an experience before, during
and forever after.
I speak of it as a holistic perceptible gestalt,
not as an organism of flesh and blood.
