Just a question! I keep coming across these doujins that are apparently "original" doujins... But then.. isn't that just a manga? confused I mean I don't get what they're a doujinshi of. Or am I somehow misunderstanding what the word "doujinshi" means? I thought it was always supposed to be a fanwork of some manga/anime that already exists.

Can anyone help clear up my confusion?

Thanks!

I think it's doujinshi that isn't based on other manga/anim/game, so that way they are original. Since it's distributed through doujinshi circles it's a doujinshi. Just my guess.

Original doujins probably means manga titles not associated with any magazine/company and were produced by only a person or group of enthusiasts.

And again, a question like this where there is a definite answer really should go to the: Random Questions Thread so I'm locking this now. If you're unsatisfied with the current answers you can ask again in the thread specified.

I think when a author does a doujinshi about her/his own series, that's an original doujinshi. For exemple, Zaou Taishi is a mangaka that did some doujinshis about her own series. In Aarinfantasy, if I remember well, they're considered as "Original Doujinshi".
Though I'm not sure if it's true. ^^ Sorry not being useful.
