Serious Question

Hi, I am new to the forums. This site looks like it has alot of manga/anime lovers. Some that would be japanese themselves. So I have a question. I have been wanting to go to Japan for a long time to do some sight seeing and touring. One time I was having a conversation with a Japanese guy on the NY metro train. When I said that I always wanted to go to Japan, he laughed and said I couldn't. When I asked him why, he told me because I was black and then he left me on the train with such a insulting answer. Is it true that Japan and Japanese people don't like black people? Or was that just a personal thing from that guy? I wanna know because I don't want to go there and feel like they don't want me there.

As far as I know, japanese people don´t care for your skincolour they just make differnece between "japanese", "asian" and "foreigner"

No, the country as a whole isn't like that. Individual people might be though... Some do look down/dislike other races, but others welcome/like foreigners. Don't worry about it too much, if you want to go, then go.

wow, lol. Yeah just hope his not right, i dought he is though...but i've heard something similar about them not liking tourists...I don't know if that info is correct though. 🤣
But to be honest even if some did think that way, i don't think it should be enough to stop you from visiting right?

I believe in letting people do as they wish, as do I myself. Sometimes, of course, what I wish to do is kill them and they do not wish to die. This gives life interest.

Oh, that's strange, because I've heard quite the opposite. I talked to a friend of mine who had lived in Japan for a few years and he said that Japanese people who thought he was a tourist were very nice, but when they found out he actually lived in Japan they became cold towards him. But I've never been to Japan myself and I don't know any Japanese people, so I may be wrong.
But I think you shouldn't judge the whole nation by one racist you met once. And you definitely shouldn't give up your travelling plans because of things he said. Just ignore the people who don't like you and have fun 🙂 (I know, I'm too optimistic)
