the anime!! i like how it switches between styles and sound effects! you should have added an option of liking both the manga and anime though...

Anime. The manga completely stank. Furthermore, the anime was actually enhanced by knowing the history around it - that it was created as a stress-reliever for Gainax staff after the abortion that was NGE. : ) Knowing that, it was fun to draw parallels and comparisons between the two series; tracking the influence of NGE to FLCL. The manga, on the other hand, was just a greed-and-profit-driven exploitation of the anime.

Finally, the manga seemed to me to merely be an exploration in disjointed wackyness where the mangaka simply copied and mutated the obvious symbols present in the anime; whereas the anime itself had a definite 'coming-of-age' plot and character progression - just with more intentional 'loose threads' sticking out then a 1st grade home-ec sewing project. : )
