guys, this have been bugging me and my sis for a long time.
about 15 years ago, we played a game with 2d view (if that's what something like mario is called). it was multiplayer, I think only for two players. you played two guys, quite tall. we were in a office like building and the screen were showing two or three floors at a time and every level you moved in the building so in the end you were in the top floor. I don't remember what we were supposed to do though. anyone remember something like that?
I think there were doors where you could go in different floors then showing.
thanks
edit: if it helps, I think it might be a demo included in a czech magazine level.
if there is an option between "to do" and "not to do", I will always choose the latter.

Objective was to reach the bottom floor?
You either use elevators(mostly) or stairs?
You can shoot enemies? Light bulbs or something?

I'm pretty sure the objective was top floor. Don't know about anything else, but I suppose you should kill some enemies.
Do you have any game in mind?

You can also enter red doors...

thanks, but sadly that's not it. the floors in the game weren't moving, we moved up when we finished something (not sure what we were supposed to do though) also, the background was more detailed (not necessary better quality) and I remember it being like offices, because in the background there were those water containers like in a office. but thanks anyway.
