So where is the option, I am female and I only use female or male form when it is correct in the sentence?

I don't even think the gay thing matters because well... you do have the option for female to female and male to male... Anyways...
I usually do not give a gender to objects but once in awhile I do. For example my air pistol was a guy because... it'd be weird if it was a girl. In my case anyway.

Plus, I don't think pets should count because they are not an inanimate object and they come with their own gender. (:

I name my cactuses. If they are just green they are male and when they bloom or have different colours they get a female name. But I never named my car but since it's pink I guess it is female 🤣

I think the poster wanted to see if the attraction plays a role, I mean that if the question is for example only "female gives male names" it can't be see if this girl gives male names because she likes men or because other reason.

Just a random thought: It'd be weird if I were to name my Barbie a male name. I don't have Barbies anymore if you were wondering. 😛

But I name my things male names. Yes I think I do? Okay, I DON'T. Actually i refer to them as males. I don't really name them like 'dave' 'lee' or whatever. For instance I call my Macbook, 'Baby'. And my piggybank (or bearbank) 'Babe'. If I were to have a car I would definitely get a cool male-ish looking car and name it 'Handsome'. At least, that's what I think I'll do.

I'm female and my cars are always guys. My current car is called Casey after the train in Dumbo (Casey Jr), because about a week after getting him I drove myself and 3 friends up a mountain to a party in the middle of nowhere. Being a small car he realy struggled so I started giving him encouragement an he made it. From than day forth he was known as Casey.

My first car was a 2006 Fiat Punto my mum called The Putput, I didn't like the name but my parents bought me the car so I couldn't complain. The Putput was a guy as well, because he was a pain in the arse sometimes.

I don't personify anything else really.
