Upcoming Policy Changes (Doujinshi and Novels)

The loss is a subjective one. There are others who couldn't care less.
That's just a mean statement. If there are people who couldn't care less, then why cater to them? They don't care! While those who DO care, who want to keep novels, actually have something to lose!
I think it's pretty obvious from this thread that a great majority of people want to keep novels (and add filtering, because that doesn't hurt anybody: in fact I've been wanting one for a while), and those who actively don't want novels on the site are a rather small minority of users who are not actually hurt by novels being on the site and are just annoyed and grumbling. And about half of the grumblers are PROzess who I guess wasn't trolling after all as I originally thought. 🤣
Honestly thanks to the non manga and manwha related novels i vist this website daily.

It's simply a rational, unbiased statement. For you to think that my statement was mean only goes to show your biases are coloring your judgment. I know guys like you and xhenriholimar want the policy amended, but passing off exaggerations as fact or making emotional appeals will not help your case.
On the other hand, calling those who do not share your opinion "grumblers" IS mean, not to mention immature.

Wow, I'm genuinely impressed at what you just pointed out. That is an interesting implication.
I just hope others reflect on what you just said.

Ah, you're the kind of person who says things like these...

And it seems you like being sarcastic. If not then I apologize for interpreting your statement incorrectly.
Is it really so much for me to ask people to try to look at an issue from multiple perspectives?

Here is my view on things. If you are going to make these changes, then at least try to compensate by creating another sister site that can be home to Asian non-anime/manga novels & unpublished unofficial Doujins. Making all these changes is understandable in a administrative point of view, but looking closely at a user's point of a view, it's kind of a nightmare that should be solved in a more comforting re-directional manner.
You cannot deny that mangaupdates has become something more than just a scanlation updating site. It has become a virtual encyclopedia, an IMDB (internet manga database).
To me, what you are doing is equivalent to a gym-teacher telling a child that soccer and football are not the same thing, when the child was raised to believe so. But the child is scolded at home for accepting that soccer and football are different sports. All the child has to do now is change his stances when at two different locations.
MangaUpdates.com, Baka-updates.com, and something new should be born from this called: Unofficial Updates - get it done admins, make everyone happy.

I'm just disappointed that the so-called "fans" throw away their dignity and read that garbage, because they're too impatient to wait for a proper release.
Seriously, why do we still need literature anyway? All these web novel releases have proven that people are content with a messed up summary in very bad English.
All authors should stop writing and just release their idea notes. We would get much more content this way!

You are totally missing the point. If a translation project is dead, you might still be curious how it ends. I have never personally read a machine translation, but I've done similar things like look at notes about the plot or simply ask someone to tell me what happens. If you're reading something you like, and it abruptly cuts off in the middle, you might simply want to know what happens. It doesn't mean you wouldn't prefer a full translation!
That doesn't mean I have no appreciation for literature (I hope!)
That said, I don't think machine translations should be listed on mangaupdates (if that's what being discussed, I'm not reading all the wall-o-texts in the last few pages! 😉 ) . Anyone can produce a machine translation of their own if it comes to that (true desperation 😀 ), so its not really helpful to anyone and it of course is a complete crapshoot that might be full of inaccurate translations and there are tons of other quality control problems that have already been brought up.

For that reason I learned Japanese.
Each his own, I know, but I'm the type that stays away from spoilers or summaries and want to enjoy the full piece in all its glory.
I'm not going to force that value on others. I'm simply disappointed that some people are satisfied with reading inaccurate spoilers.
And the more people are satisfied with just that, the more people are going to start to simply provide that instead of proper translation, because, duh, it's faster.

Just thought I'd point out that no one here is obliged to compensate anyone for anything. They don't have to get anything done for anyone, if they decide not to. You just sound bratty, ungrateful and demanding - not how you request other people to put in the extra mile of hard work for your personal needs.

Trust me I'm trying TT.TT and failing. There are several manga that have a few chapters left and I want to know how they end or are missing a page or two of text.
I only go with spoilers if they start killing off characters and want to know if they kill the ones I like.

That's your opinion. To you, I may sound like all those negative things you stated, and to others, I may sound the opposite.
We see what we choose to see.
Maybe it's time for you to get your head out of someone's ass and try to see the true meaning of my point of view. If an admin wants to change something, and they ask for an opinion before making such changes, it is the job of the regular-member to point out their views regardless of any backlash they will receive. Instead of making me look like a criminal, how about explaining to me how to state my point across without seeming like, in your own words, bratty.
If a web-admin wants to change something, and more than 1/3 of it's users disagree, there should be a way to make things feel right without any permanent bad-feelings.
Before this crazy train derails any harder i would like to point the boards direction to aho-updates that Trejon was friendly enough to mention in here:
http://mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=50330&page=1#post667266.
It looks like a viable web novel savior and the site will be way more helpful then MU can ever be over time as a database that serves too many master will serve none.
So follow the link and point to other such sites but i can guarantee you all though the lifting will need to be done but the community over there too and not admins who won´t gift you a functioning site and a pony on top just because you want them to.
You all further went on for 12 pages without even one Fahrenheit 451 or 1984 joke 🙄 .
I also read EU/US comics and am a librarian.

The site you suggested is great, but it doesn't have the same wikipedia or IMDB.com feel that mangaupdates has.
