Let's Go Fly a Kite
Hi. This is super random.
For some odd reason, I have a huge growing interest in kites. I was sorta-kinda-ish able to fly this three dollar clearance Yo Gabba Gabba kite that I bought at Target a couple weeks ago... and then I really wanted to get an actual good kite. Last night (or I guess two nights ago since it's already Saturday for me), my friend actually bought me a kite from an online site that specializes in kites and kite quipment. It's a month-early birthday present. 😀
I thought kite-flying season was fall... cuz it seems windy in fall... but I have no idea. I've also been told that spring is when people fly kites... yeah I dunno. 😛
Anyway, have you ever flown a kite? Ever tried? Do you want to if you haven't? Hmm... does anyone know when's the best time to fly kites? Does anybody know any tips? XD~
Oh, here's the greatest kite ever. :3

And you will murder someone one day, pika. If you're my daughter.

Yes, when I was a kid I'd go with my dad to the park.
Oh, and I just did the other day with a few friends. xD

When I went it was around noon? O.O

Well, maybe go somewhere near an ocean? I live pretty close to the ocean, and the park I go to is right next to it. Gives some good wind, in my opinion (I don't know for other people, though). Maybe you can give that a shot? e_o

I used to fly kites all the time as a kid. I haven't done it in years though.

I always went during the afternoons? But it was really windy where I lived, so it didn't matter too much (it was during the summer or fall, since the spring and winter were too cold).
...I feel nostalgic now. I want to go fly a kite again 😉

Yeah, I've flown kites a few times when I was younger. Ahhh...the nostalgia! 🙂
I think the best time is the afternoon (somewhere around 3 to 5 pm). And the best place is an open field or the beach or some stretch of sand, where even a small amount of wind will reach the kite without being disturbed by trees and buildings.
As for tips...I think you have to keep pulling the string back a little (as in, yanking the kite downwards slightly) once the kite is in the air. Also, lick your finger and hold it up to check wind speed and direction, before letting the kite go. Turn your back to the direction in which the wind is blowing when you're releasing it.
That's all I can think of...You can pretty much guess how good a kite-flier I was just from that, right? 😉
Happy flying! I hope you have fun!
P.S -
Your kite is nice. Wish I had one like it! (I wouldn't mind having a puppy like that either) 😀
