Been looking around for a good-ish sci-fi RPG... But almost everything I can seem to find are the Fallout-series and the Knights of the Old Republic-series which I already have. Multiplayer (Lan/Co-op) is plus but not a necessity. Don't care about graphics so age is not much of an issue. (Many of the games I play are on emulators for 8/16-bit consoles anyways.) I have a 360 but I would prefer if the games are on PC, and not a MMO.( my internetconnection reeeeaaaaly sucks).

You can try Septerra Core and maybe Salvation Prophecy. Both are for PC, but I found both a bit slow to play.

Septerra Core I got on release and Salvation Prophecy (looks like some sort of Mass Effect...) I have heard nothing about... Gonna check it out.

Edit: And preferrably no action oriented ones like Mass Effect. I want more story.

Phantasy Star I've played... 1-4 (WHY ALYS? WHY?) and Universe (and some Online on a friends Dreamcast waaaaay back). Anachronox I never really liked, can't remember why though. Maybe I should dig it up somewhere and give it another go. Borrowed Beyond Good and Evil for Gamecube from a friend but never got to finish it...

Have you played Xenosaga for PS2?

Nope... Never got my hands on a PS2, or any other PS for that matter (though i'v borrowed one or two, but then you can't really decide wich games to get can you 😀 ). I am sort of semi-looking for one though... And also trying my hardest to get a emulator for said PS2 to work. When and/or if I ever get either a PS or the emulator to work, Xenosaga is high on my list of games to get.

i advocate pso2 =D ( i played on the JP servers with an eng patch) best mmo combat systems i ever saw =D it's supposed to be coming out soon but no one knows exactly when.
Or if you're looking for a console game, try resonance of fate, It's been overlooked since it came out the same time as Final fantasy xiii (resonance of fate has great graphics and is overall a much better game with a much smaller budget >=O ) or if you're looking for a gamecube classic, try baten kaitos and baten kaitos origins. they easilly made my best rpg of the gamecube era =D

PS1 square torrent I downloaded once for the classic whatever.

xenosaga for instance.
Parasite Eve 1+2
Chrono triger/Cross
Final Fantasy 6/7
Front Mission 3

also terranigma was a great game.

Going thru the SNES era.

Oh and super robot wars,

goes thru list of PC RPG's

mass effect?

oddly I don't see anything on the list, I'll have to dig thru my old disks.

but I feel the SNES/PS1 was the golden age for gaming. after that games became too expensive to make and publishers would only make sequels and stuff.

kickstarter is trying to rebuild that, wasteland2 for instance. bethesda's coming out with a wolfenstein game.

but yeah, Activision, EA and similiar companies were bad companies for games that had ...art to them.

OK... Resonance of Fate and Final Fantasy XIII/XIII-2 I already have. Baten Kaitos Origins never got released here (sweden), but gonna try and find the first one somehow. Crono Trigger, Final Fantasy 6/7, Mass Effect I've got /played. I've played most of the RPGs that exists for the SNES, the only limit being when they aren't availiable in english 😢 (But I'm thinking about doing something about that). Wasteland 2 I've GOT to check out, Loved the first one. Played a couple of Star Oceans, the one for the Snes and The Last Hope (number 4 I think). Oh, and Salvation Prophecy was kind of fun but a bit too actiony to be called a RPG... but that's just my 2 cents about that one.

Edit: Hehehe, just found local store that stocks games from the 8-bit era til todays consoles. 😀

Warn: Banned

You could sign up for the SCHTHACK server to play PSO. They support all of the versions (GC, PC, Xbox, Dreamcast).

There is also Spiral Knights (an MMO, so that's a maybe) which is available on Steam.

The Bioshock series is an FPS, but it does have RPG elements. The series is also the spiritual successor to the System Shock series, so take a look into that. Bioshock 2 is the only game in the series to have any multiplayer game modes, but there is no co-op.

I haven't played it, but many people consider Borderlands to be the best RPG that is an FPS. It does support co-op.

Also, try taking a look into the Spectrobes series. Just skip the first Spectrobes game and get either Origins (Wii) or Beyond the Portals (DS).

If you've got a DS/3DS, I suggest you hunt down a copy of Infinite Space.
