Hi, i'm running out manga to read and may be it's time i try to read some light novels. I need help from you guys to find some good light novels out there.

My criteria would be:

  • Must be well written. (Good story, good plot building). If it has deep or complex story, i'd really appreciate it.
  • Nothing that feels like you are reading manga from translator's script. (Too many dialogues and lacking description).
  • I like fantasy, but please nothing MMORPG, getting stucked in the game, or being transported to game-like world.
  • A main character that is not busy chasing skirts (girls).

So far, the only light novel i like is DanMachi.

Thanks.

I recommend checking out Mother of Learning if you want something fantasy based. There are about 50 chapters so far, and it updates monthly.

I'm also interested in what others recommend, because from what I've been looking at there seems to be a large amount of light novels where the protagonist is summoned/reincarnated/teleported or otherwise moved to a world in which there are game-like elements that make them overpowered. I'm sorta tired of that gimmick and would love some new material.

I love xianxia novels though alot of it has skirt chasers.
Xianxia are usually underdog stories and the story on how they become strong and well known.
Heres some that dont have perverts and still really good.
True Martial World (Novel) - transferred into a new world.
I Shall Seal the Heavens (Novel)
Way of Choices (Novel) - The main character isn't exactly strong, but he is blunt and has a smart mouth. A straight forward youth.

Shuumatsu Nani Shitemasu ka? Isogashii Desu ka? Sukutte Moratte Ii Desu ka? (Novel) - The translator's site can't be accessed today for some reason.
Rakuin no Monshou (Novel) - One of the few series I gave a full 10.
Mushi-Uta (Novel) - The translation stopped at volume 4.

Altina the sword princess would maybe suit your taste. Not sure If it's as deep and complexe as you want, though

Quote from Akatsubaki

  • Nothing that feels like you are reading manga from translator's script. (Too many dialogues and lacking description).
  • I like fantasy, but please nothing MMORPG, getting stucked in the game, or being transported to game-like world.
  • A main character that is not busy chasing skirts (girls).
  • Toaru Majutsu no Index <- Reading it at the moment, quite good so far, deserves the praises it gets and fits your requirements 100%.

  • Koukaku no Regios <- Be warned with this one, characters may anger you, it has story and psychological depth. I stopped reading after volume 14 because of them. But... since it also meets your requirements 100 %, I share the name but read at your own risk...

  • Hyouketsu Kyoukai no Eden <- Nice read, sad that it hasnt been scanlated fully even if the LN has been finished. Don't understand why this story is being ignored so much when it isn't half as bad as other trash being translated atm.

  • Ookami to Koushinryou <- Im buying the volumes of this one, its brilliant, no volume has bored me so far. A single thing you should keep in mind, it may have content related to political, religious, social and economic issues.

  • Oda Nobuna no Yabou <- If you manage to get past the great ordeal of volumes 4, 5 and 6, xD then it gets really good afterwards even if it does not meet some of your requirements at the beginning (I almost dropped it at 6 but I'm thankful I kept reading).

  • The New Gate <- (Read my description till the end xD it may be to your liking) it starts as the MC is in a Death Game getting cleared by him then... the game turns "real", I dont know if that applies as "transported to another world" or "getting stuck in a game" since its all at the same time? I know it does not seem like it meets your requirements 100 % but I considered it a good read and the feeling it gives is that of a character that shouldnt be there... that is there... and still adapts itself completely to a fantasy world so the game or transported to another world characteristics disappear soon from your mind.

  • Altina the Sword Princess (Haken no Kouki Altina) <- Military strategies and political read, quite interesting. Only 5 volumes so far sadly.

  • Nejimaki Seirei Senki - Tenkyou no Alderamin <- Same as before, sadly it does not have many volumes scanlated.

All of those require some sort of knowledge (be it historical, psychological, scientific, religious, political, economical or social) or the novel itself tries to give it to you in its own way. Hope it helps!

I will recommend I Shall Seal the Heavens (Novel). Starting 100 chapters are slow but afterwards it's the best novel out there.

I've been checking some of these series, rakuin no monshou and i shall seal the heaven captured my interest the most. I'll start reading these soon. Mother of learning seems to have good potential as well.

Toaru no majutsu index has been licensed and there is anime version of it. I'll just watch this.
And i've been following wolf and spice manga version.

Thank you so much for all of these recommendations guys!
